On Bryce Fitzgerald...

Here’s his officially reported track & field record for 2024. I don’t see a 40 but I see a 100 so that’s what I’ve got.

If he ran a 4.48, I presume something must've happened on the start of his 100.

None of the figures above suggest a lower-tier athlete, quite the opposite.

As many things on CIS, this may be a tad bit overblown. But I've just realized, I may should have pursued a career in HJ seeing these figures...

DMoney and a couple others hinted to it months ago

Also, really no big hits on his highlights…Even as a centerfielder you expect him to have laid the boom at some point this season, and if he did it would almost certainly be on the tape, right?

Not a knock…I like the tape…playmaker

At this point in football and where the game is going, does hitting hard even matter?

It’s basically headed towards flag football. I’ll take a playmaker and worry about the tackling once he gets on campus.

Maybe after he gets in a college strength program and matures he will be more willing to tackle. Deion sanders was terrified to tackle and he turned out pretty good.

Because he ran the 11.63 at a legit meet this year and who knows where that 4.48 was from. On top of it, I said let’s see what he runs the next time there’s an event like all star game or whatever and it’s “CIS never fails”.

I hate the direction of this board and how it’s been going for a good while, especially for objective football discussions. It’s just not worth it on here when there’s better conversations taking place in DMs without all this.

@Gables Cane , I saw your insightful post yesterday after more deletions 👍. It’s like everything runs through a rah rah rah UM clearinghouse now.
Understood. Thanks for the reply.

This is the reason there’s groups of posters on this board - really good ones - who have scaled back or even stopped posting valuable opinions even before commitments happen - and moved them to DM’s. You can’t express an honest opinion or raise a concern contrary to what the staff position is or an action they’ve taken without their sheeples coming after you. There’s no discussion anymore without snideness and quips.

The good news is the board now has an audio book:

The 100M dash is like 110 yards or something like that. There is a world where he has the ability to run a 4.48 for 40 yards but isn't able to maintain it for the rest of 70 or so yards. If he has to run a full 100m dash during a lot of Hurricanes games we have bigger issues.

I'm still confused why there are a few posters questioning his speed. He has a verified 4.4 40 at a UA combine this year. That's a legit event and a great time.

As for track, I'm guessing those same posters never ran track. If you don't actually train for it, and given that Fitzgerald does football, basketball, and all spring/summer football he probably doesn't, even fast guys can post mediocre times. I've seen plenty of football players try the 100m and not know how to use blocks and/or "hit the wall" 70/80m in. Regardless, his 40 puts an end to the speed question as it relates to football

I was told many times on CIS by posters to watch how I critique players because there families read CIS .

All this speed stuff wasn’t an issue when we were in need of this 4 start player , now it’s a problem obviously a lot of power 5 colleges would love to have him but we are questioning his abilities to play.

This is a great point. Jenkins wanted to play WR, too. He got more physical at UM. He was bigger than Fitzgerald but similar in many ways.

That doesn’t mean Fitzgerald will develop the same way as Jenkins did, but at least there is a path.
RJ was an under-rated hitter in high school. I saw him knock Fred Taylor's gator son Kelvin into next week in the high school playoffs.................

I don’t know much about **** but I don’t think the staff was gonna take Fitzgerald until Wallace got hurt

But same time if we are looking at Plan B type kids I think he’s a better option than what we used to have to deal with here at Miami where we had to make up pure lies about guys that didn’t even belong here

Just get the ******* season going

I think that the problem is 100 and 200 times are "track and field events", but a 40 is not. A 40 is run at football camps, etc., which may not have the full set-ups and high standards that laser-timed track & field events do.

Regardless, I've always had a bit of an issue with using 100 and 200 times, because nobody ever has to run that far on a football field. The 40 is good, plus any measurement of short-distance burst speed.

I still remember the days (and you probably do too) when Skeets Nehemiah (world-class sprinter/hurdler) didn't translate into much of an NFL WR, or Michael Timpson from Dade County was a huge recruit that Pedo State landed.

All of your points are still valid. Even in 2024, we still have incomplete (public) data and the order of reactions is usually (1) mope-first due to lack of stars/stats, followed by (2) slurp-second because the moping was questionable.

And for the record, the prior paragraph relates to online armchair experts living in other states besides Florida, not for certain posters who actually coach and/or attend high school games for their own ocular impressions.

Or the scholarship limit went to 105.
Yeah I’m not here to debate what happened. He’s a Cane and I think we got a good one at the moment

The interest intensified when a few things happened and there’s nothing wrong with that

Mario’s Rolodex for recruits is always impressive. You’re gonna take some Ls recruiting against the big boys but we always seem to have more legit options on deck

I know but who should he sit behind? He got beat out by this guy- redshirt sophomore not freshman to correct my previous post.

I had said that way before he signed anywhere. Just shows how much he still has to learn when this dude beats him out. Boise State has always been a team that excells due to coaching. Recruiting takes a backseat to that at certain places. I guess this is an example of why.
