Yeah, I thought of him after I posted it. I’m sure we’ve had a number of players from NJ.Dan Stubbs, a very good DE during the 1980s, was from Red Bank, NJ.
It’s why I roll my eyes every time someone relates a HS recruit or freshman to a legendThe hype comes from school sources who I’m sure are praising certain guys for whatever reason and it goes like you said, pointedly where the board runs with it. It’s rough because when these kids don’t dominate or if they are simply average, they’re savaged on here for being busts because of unfair expectations they didn’t even create.
It exists because fans get mad when the team does bad after a hopeful August.@DMoney you’re my dog and all but the term Greentree All American exists for a reason.
You said it best , you play how you practiceIt exists because people get mad when the team does bad after the fanbase gets excited in August.
On an individual basis, the players who play best in practice are usually the good players who end up in the NFL. There are certainly guys who fit the Greentree All-American category- Darnell Jenkins, Lance Leggett as a freshman, Jaden Harris to an extent this year- but the guys who consistently perform on Greentree are usually the guys who perform on the field.

Lofton is a solid example. Being portrayed as a step below Reggie Bush or Travis Hunter impact and then catching 9 passes and having 1 TD.Just my 2 cents on this. It’s the boy that cried wolf story with these reports, if I’m being objective and fair, notwithstanding d$ being the owner of CIS, and me being his freely ordained servant. We’ve heard this year after year. It’s how the term “Greentree All-American” was born. The phenomena is real.
Now that said, there’s a mixed bag… sometimes these reports turn out to be right or right in part, like with Lofton this past year, and with Anez Cooper and KJ Osborn previously, but then there’s instances like Emory, Jacurri, Jeff Garcia, even Jadais Richard I think. These reports should be put in context for everyone at this point - where we just wait and see when and how they play.
Wilbur ValdezYeah, I thought of him after I posted it. I’m sure we’ve had a number of players from NJ.
This has gone beyond “hey I ran into a guy and he said dude looks good” relaying information to a clear voice of the Hecht putting out what the staff wants out there. And that has ratcheted up to 11 under Mario. It is likely what allows the access.Holy falsehood Batman!
I would not say you are the ones crowning these players. You bring us the news of players that are being spoken of highly. Any player (usually freshman or newer player) that has any positive news creates a swarm of CiS poRsters comparing them to legends saying they will be the next Testaverde, Irvin(g), Gore, Sean Taylor, Sapp, etc only for the buzz to be nothing more than poRsters living off of high school highlight reels thinking that they will do the same or better in college, hyping the player to levels no one can live up to and then ****ting on them (even making them lose confidence and play worse as a result).
Again, you're not to blame for the Greentree All-American thing but to say it's false is WILD.
That guy was hyped up too but I can’t recall if it was before he got to UM or after.
DS was a huge human being, if you wanted a photo of a beast DS would be it .Dan Stubbs, a very good DE during the 1980s, was from Red Bank, NJ.

I can’t believe anyone questions the role here or the existence of the Greentree All-American, a term CIS has shirts made with for sale.Oh they started alright, en route to being the worst secondary in Miami history
