Ok, this story has me freaked the $%#@!& out...

Someone care to shed light on why Feldman had an axe to grind?

Must've missed that one...

Shapiro and his bull**** aside, the one thing this school continues to win at is finding ways to alienate everyone that has a connection to it, or at least those who could be a positive voice for it. It's uncanny. I can't recall another program where it's leadership goes out of its way to work against the athletic dept that put it on the national stage.

I don't think he has an axe to grind against his alma-mater.
I think it's another case of an alum using his school to further advance his career.
ANother in a long line of rats.

Holy lot of words that mean nothing. No one knows a ******* thing.

Oh... ok. We're being LeBatarded. Figures. Then the last part of my post applies even more.

Am i reading that correctly, they are trying to get golden in hot water for not buying Bridgewater dinner...and for asking "peewee" about players ... Not asking hum to do anything with them, just asking his opinion on these guys?

The muckracking media feeds off sensationalization. They are squeezing every last drop out of this "scandal". No new info and repeating all the allegations.

At this point the media uses us to gain/maintain ratings. If we were never good they would never care to hate us. The way we won struck a cord with football fans/America and created the most one of the most recognizable brands in Sports. The U.

I'm ready for whatever..
I agree.

It's getting sad around here. Our fanbase is pretty weak and whiny. Hurricanes....nope....more like an afternoon sprinkle with fans running for cover at every turn. We went from Thug U to coach made me sad I want to transfer and the fans are no better. "I am going to show the NCAA -- if you give Miami a harsh penalty, I'm going to take my ball and go home. I showed you!"

Yep Shalala would be fired for raising the academic ranking of the school and bringing in tons of money, but the football team cheated and couldn't win. Yep, get rid of a leader with Presidential connections because our **** fan base running for the hills and giving up on the team says so.

WOW!

Go Canes!

+1 Must spread rep before giving it..
I agree most our fans are brain dead, championship or bust type of idiots.. Spoiled fan base don't know how to handle losing.. It used to be real easy to root for the canes, now not so much.. Take the good with the bad.. I don't expect to be relevant for at least 3 years but I'll wear my orange and green till I die..

Let's go CANES!

Feldman is a journalist doing his job. Allen obviously would talk to him because of the connection. The delusion here is funny. We broke the rules, we are going to have to pay some penalty. We supposedly had the best compliance team and the business and they couldn't sniff this loser out over 6-7 years? We talked a good game, and that's about it. They new of the allegations in 2010 and they still had Allen around the program for another year? There was no compliance, none, it was a charade.

This article changes absolutely nothing. Most people would agree that UM will most likely get a 1-2 year bowl ban and 5-8 scholarships taken away for 3-5 years. It's getting hit pretty hard, but i'd take it any day of the week.

On the other hand, the NCAA is unpredictable and I think that's what has a lot of fans uneasy about our coming sanctions.

That was a very poorly written article.

Aside from revealing nothing new, it was circuitous and unnecessarily convoluted.

The lead was slow and weak but overall the piece didn't have the desperate over the top feel of anything from Charles Robinson.

We certainly can't pretend there was nothing new. Feldman has Sean Allen admitting he lied and lied to the NCAA, when asked about 150 players, in the days prior to the release of the Yahoo article. That's what struck me. We've been somewhat comforted by cooperation and a hope it will lead to lesser penalties. Granted, Allen is connected to Shapiro tighter than the Canes but when I read that segment of the article all I could think of was situational impact. The NCAA shows up and is quickly hit with a flurry of lies. They know he's lying and it apparently extends many hours and covering 150 players, according to Allen's account. No doubt an exaggerated number, but that's irrelevant. It's the NCAA's introduction to the case, one of the early people they covered. I don't see how we can pretend they didn't leave that room convinced that major infractions took place, and that coverups were underway. In that type of situation even legit denials will be greeted with skepticism.

Besides, one of the NCAA investigators apparently used the Reggie Bush comparison to Allen, saying he worked that case. Little things like that stand out to me. They use that reference because at foundation they believe it's a case with comparable significance and infractions. It doesn't matter what we think.

We wont loss more then 5 S'ships a year for about 3 years guys ,thats 15

Still a lot to overcome maybe the coach will start back taking a shot on inner city kids...

To all you Obama hater, Keep hating
Obama will win this election easy...

but the system is broken in Washington
their not looking out for you or me period(silly *** republican)
47%

back to Canes ...
Allen a rat and we all know that..

The SEC buys players all day every day. To help their football programs.

Penn State's President, General Counsel, Athletic Director and Head Coach enable and cover-up for over a decade on-going child rape by a football program representative. To protect the football program and coach's reputation.

UNC commited eggregious academic fraud including players getting grades for classes thy didnt attend. To protect their eligibility and help the football and basketball programs.

At UM, a rogue criminal spent money wining and dining players to make himself feel important. He didnt buy players for the team. He didnt help the team. If the university was complicit, it was in Shalala wanting his money for their endowment.

The Bridgewater deal isnt even a violation Wasnt an arranged meeting and the school never bought his meal. Everything else is hearsay. Allen is a confused guy =says he loves the u but snitches probably for money from cbs. If this guy was a witness in the court of law the defense would destroy his credibility. He says UM never told him about guys like Shapiro and then he says Shannon warned him and he ignored him. Huh? He admits he lied to the NCAA ? That destroys his current credibility right there.
As for Shapiro and his Rain Man ability for details. It was shown that in his fraud case he had an immense ability to produce elaborate details on the fly to his victims. They were all elaborate lies. The average person just isnt ready for someone like Shapiro and thats how he conned people. Willful idiots like Robinson and now Feldman have dirtied themselves in the process. I believe whats happened is that the NCAA has found some stuff but is probably fed up with all the dead ends that shapiro has elaborated on. I dont believe the U will go down without a fight if the penalties are harsh.
Because of the inequities in the NCAA which give bigger schools with more money a clear advantage (including scheduling) the U found itself desperate for Donors. But what cant be shown here is any willful culpability that anyone in the administration or the head coach approved of or knew what Shapiro did. Allen said he wasnt a bagman and didnt pay recruits to come to the U. SO most of this stuff is piddling small time crap that goes on at many major schools.
Whose to say that all that SEC money which has found itself in players pockets isnt finding itself in the hands of NCAA lawyers most of whom have otherwise failed in the private sector.
I think its time the NCAA gets put under scrutiny. It creates damage to young athletes with a scale of justice that fits a Franz Kafka novel.
