candidates for the UM job( and again, Im with those who think they should sit down for at least a lunch at Olive Garden), who do you want and why.
Here's my take on all 3 guys:
- Butch: great eye for talent, has built programs, knows the UM culture and an unbelievable recruiter. And with Paul Dee no longer there, honestly, I think most of the harsh feelings from his departure are forgotten about. Downside is that his UNC run ended in a bit of shame and perhaps the administration would be hesitant of touching him. Far as Im concerned I let bygones be bygones....
- Chud: highly regarded coach, and D$ and I have talked about the potential for him to put together a very good staff that would be perfect for Miami and S. Florida. What concerns me is that he's been out of the college game for about a decade( hence, the importance of a strong staff) and I worry about his ability as a CEO of a program
- Schiano: Yeah, did a very good job in rebuilding Rutgers and honestly, dont care about his tenure at Tampa Bay(his style is made for the college game, not coaching grown *** men) and he's an aggressive guy. I like the fact he's been at UM before and has led a program as the head coach
So what do you guys think?
LATE EDIT: Just wanted to add, IMO, I think whoever is the new guy, I think certain staffers like James Coley and Hurlie Brown( among others) absolutely need to be kept on for recruiting purposes and keep current verbal commits.
