Official thread for 2 teams not named UM playing for a title

While our pathetic coach's motto is to build this program slowly, so that maybe we attend a BCS bowl by the time we're all using flying cars, Gus ****ing Malzahn has taken a team that in 2012 went 3-9 and 0-8 in the SEC, and they're a quarter and a half from a national title win against a team that bent us over. This Auburn team is the perfect example of an undermanned squad beating up on a superior team because they're better prepared and strategically and intellectually superior. This is what 30 days of preparation looks like. What we did against UL? That's what mediocre *** coaches like Randy Shannon and Al Golden put forward, and then spend entire offseasons rationalizing and justifying.

What we need is clear as day: an intelligent, innovative, and aggressive coach, who provides us with a legitimate Xs and Os advantage. He need not be a super diligent recruiter. He can hire people to do that. I promise that we'll attract more elite recruits by showing on-field results rather than sending cute cards and texts messages. This game, this coach, show us exactly what we need. Problem is that over the last decade, our athletic department has shown neither the foresight nor savvy to make this type of decision. Cookie-cutter approach to problems result in mediocrity. That's UM, right now at least.

Man, i'm getting more and more depressed by the minute. I was so hoping that he was the man who would lead us back to our old ways. But seeing how this season played out, his stubborn view on the defense, and Auburn vs FSU in the championship has me reconsidering some things. Not to mention, I keep hearing the name Mason, Freeman, Therizie, and many more players we either missed on or didn't think was worth an offer. I think another year like the past two years will set us back 3 or 4 more years. Because SFL players will stop buying his bullshyt.

Funny thing is we probably could have gotten Malzahn back then. Rumor was that Malzahn wanted this gig. Regardless, I agree with you. Can you imagine what Malzahn would do down here?

Auburn and their humongous athletic budget just would have come after Malzahn when the AU came open this past year anyway and we'd probably had to look for a new HC yet again..

Auburn plays man to man, puts 8 in the box and plays aggressive. Remember when Miami use to do that?

Until recently we haven't had the DBs Come next Season we will have some very good DB roaming the backfield, but it's all for nothing if you can't generate pressure and get to the QB
