While our pathetic coach's motto is to build this program slowly, so that maybe we attend a BCS bowl by the time we're all using flying cars, Gus ******* Malzahn has taken a team that in 2012 went 3-9 and 0-8 in the SEC, and they're a quarter and a half from a national title win against a team that bent us over. This Auburn team is the perfect example of an undermanned squad beating up on a superior team because they're better prepared and strategically and intellectually superior. This is what 30 days of preparation looks like. What we did against UL? That's what mediocre *** coaches like Randy Shannon and Al Golden put forward, and then spend entire offseasons rationalizing and justifying.
What we need is clear as day: an intelligent, innovative, and aggressive coach, who provides us with a legitimate Xs and Os advantage. He need not be a super diligent recruiter. He can hire people to do that. I promise that we'll attract more elite recruits by showing on-field results rather than sending cute cards and texts messages. This game, this coach, show us exactly what we need. Problem is that over the last decade, our athletic department has shown neither the foresight nor savvy to make this type of decision. Cookie-cutter approach to problems result in mediocrity. That's UM, right now at least.
