Olsen himself said he didn't even expect to play this year. That was what he said a week ago when Ryan went down

Gives u an idea of the type of approach he has had this spring. Now he is the guy.

He has to improve but he's got 5 months to get ready. Let's let him develop and see where we are in 5 months...

Thank god we have the best RB in the country
I see Portis' talk went over his head then...

It's tough to find many positives with the QB play today, but some of you are acting like we witnessed Kirnobyl again. Calmate.

I didn't catch the game, but one thing I do know is that anyone on this planet would have looked a lot better if #8 was lined up in the backfield.

If Olsen is anything more than servicable this year I would consider it gravy. We can still win games if we can scheme well (ha, I know) and avoid injuries to our other playmakers.

Short of going either 0-23 with 6 INT or 27-28 for 480 and 7TD, nothing Olsen did today was going to change my feeling as to where we stand offensively right now. One way or another, we were breaking in a new guy this spring. Talk to me at halftime of week 1 if you want my opinion on the QB situation.

Watching the Spring Game replay now. Its quite clear to me that those that are clamoring for more variety in route combinations should watch the 7 on 7. For whatever reasons those routes are being called with more frequency there and not much the 11 on 11. So it isn't as if those thing don't exist in the offense.

People are tripping over this Olson thing. Lets stop and think for 2 seconds like reasonable people.

-Olson is a redshirt freshman with zero actual in game experience.
-He played in a spring game where they are not taking things nearly as serious including the coaches.
-Regardless of how bad any of us feel about the defense, it is full of Juniors and Seniors. I don't see freshman starting and probably not too many sophomores.
- He again is a redshirt freshman with zero in game experience. There's are not many redshirt freshman and probably even sophomores who just come out and dominate right away. Not everyone is winston or manziel. That doesn't make them a bust.

Relax people. It might even take him a few games to get comfortable. Don't expect miracles. It is likely he will even cost us a game or 2 or more. It's part of the natural progression. If he were a junior playing like that, I might be concerned. I'll just wait to see what happens during the season.

Salami with the tip

Young with the INT thrown by Crow

LOL

lmao on some passing judgement on olsen from the spring game, kids first game under the lights

Showed nothing promising. Did not expect him to be Johnny Football or Winston whom both destroyed the football world in their red shirt freshman years or "under the lights". But I did expect him to at least hit 40% of his open receivers and not throw back to back bounce passes on 2nd and 3rd down.

Didn't Morris light up the defense last spring and had most thinking he was gonna be a solid qb. Let's wait and see what happens in august before we get really concerned.

Olsen struggling today is a good thing. It will light a fire in his *** to really get him to hunker down hopefully.

I'll give you a better silver lining than that. No one should complain again about 3 star recruits, it shows these high school ranking systems are flawed. A 4 star All American Under Armour Elite 11 QB should never have a 33% passing game on a 65 yard field in a practice in his second year, never. Especially against a defense that gave up a million yards last year (accurate number). Lol there it is, Kaaya will be the one if he can reach receiver farther than 30 yards down field and hit open guys.

One former four-star recruit struggling mightily in a spring game proves that star rankings don't matter? But what about the other quarterback (Gray Crow), a former three-star recruit who attempted just one fewer pass and looked equally terrible today? By your logic, shouldn't his performance justify people complaining about unheralded three-star recruits? See how that works?

Thing about Kayaa's all star game was he was less than 50%, and that wasn't the super talented all star game.

He won't be ready either IMO.

The kid that actually may play early because of his running ability is Rosier.

So Olsen **** the bed?

Short Answer: Yes

Details: Playcalling wasn't really helpful, a lot of his misses were vertical routes in which there was tight coverage, a few bootlegs where the defender batted the ball down, and then just some straight up misses. And a Receiver fell down/ got pushed down on the INT.

So TFWIW

I think we just need to wait and see what happens in the Fall I think the person to be concerned about is coley

Can he put our offense in the right position to make plays and under stand our qb has mono game experience
