OC Coley

Based on Golden's interviews following the UF game, it's clear that he instructed Coley to call a conservative game and to specifically avoid running pass plays that tested the crowded, riskier parts of the field. I like what I've been seeing in terms of the passing offense the last two games, and am optimistic about the offense as we head into the ACC sked. We're good.

Morris has a much better skill set then Williams, but our offense seems to run at a better pace with Williams. Not as much of the staring back at the sideline for a play

Seems like Williams is faster in reading, checking off and decisions. May be more accurate in short passing as well. Boy, if he had Morris' arm......

I think you're right.

Seems simple, but yea, Williams sees the field better.....that's why he makes quicker decisions. With that said, Morris was a lot better yesterday. This passing game flows so much better when the QB is patient.

Morris looked GREAT! God I pray we see THAT Morris and not "Mr. Glass" the rest of the season.

Williams doesn't get that "Mummy" look, moves around and seems to find guys for down and distance. No way I want him over 1st Quarter Morris (Morris vs UF and USF in 1st QTR) but great to know we can play with our backup. Compare to last year, when Morris went out against UNC and Williams was sack, incomplete and sack every series, ( like Kyle Wright or something)

My biggest issue with Coley up this point was not using the middle of the field more on passing plays and poorly designed or maybe poorly timed run plays. I saw us use the middle of the field more against USF so I was happy for that. Still want some improvement in our run game, but as many have said, the OL needs to do their job too.

Maybe holding out for a bigger game say ah FSWho maybe... the middle is always open against them and he knows all the holes in that defense.

Maybe the problem with the middle of the field is not Coley, but Morris. Seems that Williams has had no issues finding the middle of the field.

Its funny, the difference between Morris and Williams is mental. Morris has a better arm and more natural talent, but Williams seems to have a better feel, more poise and consistency than Morris. If Morris could settle in and make the decisions that Williams does, he would be a Heisman candidate right now.

James Coley will prove to be an upgrade over Fisch, he already has imo.

He's running Fisch's playbook with some of his own wrinkles thrown in. The offense is basically in year #3 and all of the key players are a year older along with the O-line. Saying a guy who has taken over a playbook another guy designed is an upgrade is a stretch.

his playbook is completely different then Fischs, just has some similarities....

Fisch never had a pistol formation, never cared for Mo Hagens at all, never had a 2 back set in the backfield.

Who knows what else Coley has up his sleave at this point.

Fisch was on and off. Couldn't call a play that worked to save his life when we had a lead and the ball in crucial situations, a LOT. Screwed around in the Red Zone a LOT, and seemed to abandon things that were working.

He also went entire games where the offense went three and out EVERY posession the entire game. Whether that was on the QB or him, I don't know.

If Morris made one play or two in the last three quarters against UF, we blow them out. Seems like Coley knows what he is doing.

Completely agree.

Williams definately starts next year. Olsen and kaaya compete the year after.

Waay too early to say that. Olsen has a lot of time to develop.

Everything I read, said he was keeping much of the same terminology to make the transition easier for the players. I saw nothing about keeping Fisch's playbook. I don't think he's running Fisch's playbook. If he was keeping Fisch's playbook, why would terminology be an issue?

He didn't keep Fish's playbook. That's a dude giving his opinion and stating it as fact.

Offense was definitely clicking against USF. Both with Morris and Williams. Morris looked really good though and if that Morris shows up for every game then our offense will be the monster we all expected

I saw better route combos and more drags/slants and throws to the middle of the field, which I like, but I'd say the jury is still out on Coley as a play-caller.

I want to see him call a good game against a real team.
