Now the bad news

Just to give a timeline (and people can say its revisionist, but whatever), this is the info I have.

On Monday, I got a tip that Thomas was leaning towards getting out if Miami and that this might lead to dropping Kirkland. I was skeptical, but the source is pretty impeccable. Then the Kirkland news drops yesterday. Cash is $, so his news about a meeting makes perfect sense. But we also had our in-home last night, and a UM source I spoke to at 11 pm was confident on Thomas.

Bottom line? Welcome to recruiting. I will say this: if Thomas leaves, he was never going to stay. We could not have done more.

I cannot remember a kid we recruited harder than Thomas. We showed up to all his games, recruited Momma, and even had Sebastian wear #6 at the Duke basketball game.

It was reported that he wears that at every game. Stands for the 6th man.

Cash, you're doing it wrong. After a day like yesterday, you are supposed to follow up with good news, we had the bad news already

I refer you to the Collins thread and the Coley comments over the past 3-4 days on this forum.

Don't ruin this for me.

Bama/USF/USC... ANYONE but FSU. Only thing that'd make losing the top Sth Fla recruit worse is losing him to our main rival. **** I'd be ****ed. At least if they swing and miss on him as well we won't have to see him on the field the next 3-4 years.

He will be just another supremely athletic LB with above average production if he goes to FSU. The only positions guys have really been up to par at that school have been on the OL, DL, and CB. Everyone else disappoints or does not live up to potential year in and year out.

I never thought that I'd be able to say this, but I have no doubt in my mind that this NSD is going to surpass the infamous Willie Williams 04 NSD. At this point, no matter what anyone says about Thomas (and the rest of the undecided recruits) I'm not going to believe it. Tell me he's headed elsewhere, and I'm still going to have hope. Tell me he's a lock, and I'm going to be hesitant. I literally haven't felt like this since 04. This SUCKS. lol

I agree. I took a vacation day for the Willie Williams drama. In a convo with Able a month or so ago I compared 6's recruitment to The Fire Marshall.

So, it's NO but then he meets with our coaches and its maybe YES, but between now and then, maybe he wakes up on the left side of his bed and feels like maybe he should go to FSU and tag half of FAMU, but then on signing day, maybe he realizes he's going to miss his family and rather stay here, blah blah blah.

These kids are morons, and their minds change every friggin day because of that -- irrational actors don't adhere to strict principles or logic or to a set of calculations. So, unless a kid publicly commits to us, or tweets a picture of a recently-added "U" tattoo, I'm going to wait and see what the fax machine reveals on NSD. Yea, I'll follow and listen like everyone else, but people shouldn't be overreacting to anything coming from an insider, because that information usually reflects subjective perceptions of highly fluid situations.

Map, meet Reuben Foster.

Haha I proceeded it with good news lol. Couldn't have back to back bad news, cliff jumpers beware. To make it worse my info guy just got on a flight from Cali to Nashville so I'm stuck for a bit.

Just goes to show you how much people actually pay attention to the basketball team.

I think you're underselling these kids a bit. Look at all the kids that skipped town on Randy and Coker. They're not as dumb as we think.

I spoke to Lamar Thomas about his recruitment and he told me growing up he was a Gator fan, but he made a "business decision" to go to UM because UF had Emmitt and a running offense and Miami was gunning it. I have no doubt MT6 has some love for this program; but really, if he goes to Bama, can you blame him?

No one here knows ****.

Todo esto. Whatever people do know, and it's probably legit that they've heard, is a bunch of rumblings. That's not a shot at anyone in particular. It's a reality of recruiting. It's more of a message for the guys on here who haven't been through this before. Just let things play out.

Over/under how many times the info swings from here to singing day?

2x a day on average?

This is how I explained the last 7 days before signing day to a friend of mine:

You remember in the movie Jurassic Park when the TRex first breaches the fence and the kids are by the car? This enormous dinosaur is almost face to face with the freaked out kid. The doctor/historian guy tells the kid to stay as still as humanly possible. Think of all the stories and rumors this week as the dinosaur, we (as fans) are the kid and movement is any worry.

FSU insiders were 100% certain that Willie would sign with FSU

So was every UM insider with the exception of KentuckyHurricane. Right up until he announced.

Yup. And in the end, nobody actually had inside information on Willie. Just that both staffs felt good.

I do remember after his UF visit somebody coming to grassy and posting about how he heard Willie got in trouble up at UF lol
