Nah bro; DJU was inaccurate af at Oregon State. He was pedestrian at best.
57% completion
Avg. 220 yrds/g
He was more game mgr. DJU, man….he’s a curious case study. Not only was he a top 3 QB coming out, but he looked like a Top 3 QB coming out when he came in for Trevor Lawrence. His drop off going from a future 1st Rd QB to a future CFL QB is wild. His mechanics r god awful, & I’m not sure where his athleticism went.
This is all true.
However, @gacaneaddict was trying to tell us how amazing Castellanos was at Boston Collge based on something he did in 2023. And when you look at it, Castellanos's 2023 season is fairly similar to DJU's 2023 season.
So first look at Castellanos in 2023. His passing numbers are fairly consistent from 2023 to 2024, even though he threw about half the passes in 2024 that he threw in 2024. He is slightly more accurate in 2024 and threw for more TDs (on average) in 2024. His running in 2023 was great, but then really fell off in 2024.
Now, here is DJU in 2023. Nearly identical attempts, completions, and completion percentage. DJU threw for more yardage and TDs. His running is not as strong when it comes to yardage, but he scored 6 TDs.
Thus, when @gacaneaddict tries to tell us how this is a "massive upgrade" for F$U, it looks like they got a QB who had a nearly identical 2023 year to DJU. DJU actually threw for more yards and ran for less, but Castellanos accounted for ONE WHOLE TOUCHDOWN more than DJU (28 TDs to 27 TDs).
So we can rag on DJU all day and all night, but Castellanos and DJU look to have had very similar overall production in 2023.
