no team is safe these days....

Soooo is it best to move portal window till after the playoffs/ bowls?

I get why players do it early in the attempt to lock in positions early and maximize teams bids
Move the national championship back a little more and open the portal after the cfp semi-finals to be open for 3 weeks. National champion contenders typically do not move teams as much as others.

Edit: and still have a later winter window.

You have to account for school in March-April though. Class and graduation goes to May.

The window has to be in January

Window for entry. You could jump in after spring break. The window is already there, more or less.

You could start at the new school for Summer 1 (May), Summer 1 (June), or Fall (August).

Spring practice has nearly been rendered meaningless anyhow, what with the second Portal window right after.

Keep the season as is.

Everyone has IPFs now.

March-April - ONE portal window (unless you graduate in summer or December)

May-June - "spring practice"

August - summer practice
Completely forgot when I spoke earlier that the main purpose of going to school is…going to school.

Portal can’t really be moved if you have to sign up for classes by x date. So maybe that ends up moving around for athletes? Tricky situation.

What Rellywood said back in 2019, along w/ a lot of other **** pertaining to NIL, Congress’ involvement, The Judicial System involvement, etc etc.

This is what happens when u have too many chefs in the kitchen all postering about what’s fair & what’s not fair creating absolute chaos. Ppl who make decisions r typically dumb af b/c they don’t live by the laws of checks & balances to mitigate unintended consequences. ****, I just read NYJ management said no to Jerry Jeudy b/c they looked at his Madden ratings, as an example.

The Portal is a mess in its current state & NIL is a mess in its current state; the two combined = the finest bull **** in all of sports.
Send me the Madden rating article. I'm in tears.

Yeah I was wondering about the schedule laid out by @TheOriginalCane. Doesn't a portal transfer need to be enrolled in school by the start of the new semester in January order to practice w/ new school in Spring?

Summer time. Do it in June alone.

What a **** show... I will not be watching the games tomorrow.

St. John's plays at 8:00pm. I encourage you all tune in and watch Slick rick grace the sidelines as the Red Storm of Queens take on the Friars of Providence.

Portal should be late Jan- early feb. season is completely over atp. Do another lil short window after spring ball

Need to move the season up to start mid August and end before thanksgiving. Play conference championships thanksgiving weekend. Then, playoffs will be on or around Dec 10, 20th, and 30th (7-10 day windows between each round) Championship will be first week of January. Portal opens only when your HC leaves or your team’s season is over and closes on the day classes start.

All schools would need to align start dates and last day to add a class or last day to enroll)
This is the crux of it - the issue is that the academic calendar does not match the football one. It never did, but it is worse now with the extended playoff schedule and that kids are so free to transfer.

I like spring portal because coaches make this promises. You sit during spring it’s time to move on.

Timing isn’t the issue as much as it being the Wild West is. Need to go back to old rules. Feel free to leave but you sit a year and lose a year of eligibility.

Just reinstate the sit-for-a-year transfer rule and it solves 90% of the problem. And that’s one rule that would be hard to challenge in court.

This is 100% fax. The problem is that this looks like retribution from the NCAA cause they knew it would happen. At least now you can level the playing field, but it’s more of a headache. You know what was more of a headache, spending years recruiting a player having him come to your games, getting to know the family and then having a dude like Alabama Have one visit drop a bag and all that effort goes out the window. The NCAA had its gravy train with the SEC and other front runners and they look the other way and punished other schools when they got caught doing minimal violations. And now that that part was taken away from them, they decided to just look the other way at everything and laugh at everybody because it’s a mess and act like they were holier than though the whole time. I mean out of all the people they got complaining about NIL it’s Nick Saban going to Congress, the dude that had all of those football players driving around brand, new cars while the NCAA looked away.

It’s like sending Pablo Escobar to Congress to complain about the open border and drug trafficking.

“Hey guys, I used to have this on lock when I was in Colombia but you letting these Mexicans just go through the border. It’s not fair”

Yes, it’s a mess but look at the schools that are complaining the most about it. It’s the schools who had everything set up in their favor cause they had dudes in the NCAA looking the other way

Take away the yearly transfer or have contracts locking kids in. Washington State is the reason why this has to change. Pay the kids whatever they can get but this moving around every ten months will kill the game. Jesus the ncaa is like the government. They’d ***** up a wet dream.
