Staff can’t feel good on Campbell or Surtain. If we round out the class with ezzard, Briggs, and Chatman I’ll be fine

They don’t feel good about Surtain or Campbell, but even if they did, this was coming. This is not connected to those two.

We're probably not getting Surtain or Campbell but Idgaf.... last season we only had Henderson and Edwards to bank on or we were sol.

This year we got Frierson, Blades, and Ivey... the cornerback position has been upgraded exponentially with those three alone.

**** whoever ain't a cane let the UGa groupies like dwinstitles and chosenone cry about it while the 2019 class is next up.

They ain't groupies they hot and cold *** ****s.. When **** hot they all in soon as it's not they sucking off the next man.. Both would be killed if they did that **** in the streets.

Real talk :fistbump:

Y'all keep feeding each other delusions that this kid is gonna be a star.

"UGA groupie". Just because I think UGA is doing what we should be doing doesn't make me a groupie. We paying Richt 4 Milly to clean up the state and create a dominant championship level football team. Sorry for not wanting to settle for guys like Bethel when FSU and UF were horrible this year and hired new corches.

"Hot and cold". I had concerns while we were winning and 10-0. Sorry I wasn't blinded by the record, defense, or Malik's play early on. Unfortunately all of my concerns came to light when we started playing good teams.

Next year, Next class, NEXT, NEXT, NEXT, NEXT... y'all not tired of always having to say next? Why cant it be now? This is like the 8th year in a row I've heard this exact quote "[insert next class] will be the class that changes our program."

You can settle for meh football and meh talent. I want to watch a dominant Canes team.
Edit: Don't get me wrong our class is talented but most of the talent is on the offense. Defensive recruiting is underwhelming.

I understand he has the tools to be great, still can't hide that we are about to missout on two of the top 5 cbs in sofl. Who our db coach coached in hs and one in little league as well. Smoke and mirrors man can't hide that they failed on getting on getting Campbell

Never a good sign when a potential DB prospect has like 1 defensive highlight and it exposes bad man covg and tackling technique.

But on the bright side he's easily a Miami caliber athlete who could be a potent vertical threat and special teams weapon.

I'd bet he's a WR sooner or later and it looks like he can play. Sorry to the crybabies who think this is a wasted scholarship and evidence that the AH corners are gone.
Doesn’t mean much tbh, look at Malek Young senior highlight tape, he didn’t have many plays on defense like that either. Wouldn’t mind seeing bethels speed as an athlete on offense tbqh
Lol you cannot be serious.

You & that clown Meat were the two biggest proponents in us not taking Bethel no matter what.

You were 100% against it, you said he sucked & doesn't deserve to be at Miami. Don't hop on the bandwagon now.

Lol @ there being a Nigel Bethel bandwagon. This is not a kid that Miami should have to settle for...but apparently we whiffed on the AH kids so now we're on to Plan C...

The funniest part is how y'all are trying to make Bethel out to be this world beater now that he's committed. Didn't get an offer from any major school besides us, even though he played at the most heavily recruited school in America smh

Of course I'll support the kid, he's a cane...just like I support Charles Perry, Tre Johnson, and Trayone Gray. But I don't expect him to ever start at Miami. This is a waste of a scholly imo

I'm happy he committed & proud of him.

This is a big moment for him & he definitely wanted to be a Cane for quite some time, I'm glad he gets an opportunity to stay home & ball out.

I been saying he was he was a take since back June when he came to the Mark Richt 7v7 camps & the staff really liked his upside after evaluating him then.

He's a good football player, versatile with legit natural speed & great length. He might not be a day 1 starter as a CB, but can make an instant impact on ST's as a return man.

A lot people on this board undeservedly hated on this kid heavy, well now he'll be a Cane.

And the Ryan Mayes comparisons need to stop asap, Mayes was a Dr. Krop kid who once he got to MNW the Coaches thought was soft, he didn't have anywhere near the tools & natural ability Bethel has.

This is a Coach Richt eval, not a Folden eval, have some faith. This staff doesn't just take local 3-stars that are no good just for appeasement, if Bethel was really as bad as some of you idiots have been saying he was these last few weeks the staff wouldn't have even entertained it.

I love his length and speed. Hopefully he comes in with old school chip on his shoulder to show everyone he is a better CB than anyone who goes somewhere else. We need his type of speed. Randy was crap as HC but at least we had guys who could run track like Miller playing football. We have a Blades now, so now we need more speed.

Nobody is trying to make Bethel out to be anything, D$, gogeta, myself & several others have said from the very begging he was a good player.

Just because he doesn't meet your standard doesn't means he's not. The staff evaluated Nigel after seeing him in person back in June at the Mark Richt camps, they've liked him since then & kept in touch with him the entire time.

You think he's a waste of a scholly, well I think you don't know **** about Football, so there's that.

And you're not gonna support him, you're just gonna sit back & wait for every opportunity to call him a bust just you can say you were right.

You & the rest of the clowns who were so against us taking Bethel shouldn't even post in this thread. We know where yall stand & what yall think about him.

This is his moment, all this negativity towards him is unnecessary, either wish the kid luck or get the **** on find something else to complain about.

You called me out specifically by name. Now you don't like it when I respond? What did you think was gonna happen?

I have my opinion and that's that.

I don't agree with the coaches, but what's done is done, and he'll obviously be in this class. We'll see how it works out.

Personally Im not the biggest fan of him. I understand why they like him though, its cause hes fast and has great length. Its not very complicated. What doesn't make sense is why he was the guy we were going for over Asante and Divaad, etc. And he 100% is a backup plan that we are only taking because Malek Young will no longer play and/or because they aren't confident in Campbell/Surtain.

Dude needs to RS though imo. He's long but skinny and needs to hit the weight room.

It occurs to me that butch always saw the man a 17 or 18 year old would be instead of only noticing the most advanced players. These other DB clearly are better right now but are the already maxed out from better coaching and earlier development? You can not teach speed or length, this kid might have higher upside IF he gets good coaching. It is not like we have pulled offers to the AH pair to give one to him. We need more speed on defense so I want him there.

I've been a miami hurricane fan for many years. Again played in the SEC and drafted in the 3rd round. People didn't believe in me either. If I could have chosen Miami, I would have committed. I have to say this. Some of you posters are some whiny lil ********. You are the ones that make miami appear to be soft. This is a florida kid. With speed, how could you underestimate this kid? Half yall don't know ****. Let the coached do their job. If kid played wide receiver, he can locate the ball. If kid has speed, you can't teach that. That's all a coach needs. Yes he need heart, most florida boys have that. There is no guarantee that we will get another commit from another cornerback this year. If the kid had committed else where and PS or TC don't come, we have nothing. Oh, don't let him ball out else, then your complaining about how did we miss him. So now the kid is a cane!! Support him!! Don't send negative vibes, ya lil negative whiny fake *** trolls..that part

Bingo

Is that the **** from TN that hurt us in one game? The name sounds familiar.

Speaking track speed and times only he compares at the same stage/grade level of development with Henderson-- Let's see his times from the upcoming track season

Henderson
100 Meters
2016 Outdoor 11 10.77
2017 Outdoor 12 10.40 PR * (run with a 3.3mps tail wind--is 10.58 with no wind)

200 Meters
2014 Outdoor 9 22.55
2015 Outdoor 10 21.92 *
2016 Outdoor 11 21.24 *
2017 Outdoor 12 20.92 PR * (run with a 2.0mps tail wind -- 21.10 with no wind)

400 Meters
2014 Outdoor 9 50.24
2015 Outdoor 10 50.88
2017 Outdoor 12 48.48 PR *

Bethel
100 Meters
2016 Outdoor 10 10.78 PR (run with a 0.2 mps tail wind--10.79 with no wind)

200 Meters
2016 Outdoor 10 21.57 PR

400 Meters
2017 Outdoor 11 49.79 PR

Very interesting!
Not really. The only thing that can be said about a race with wind, +/-, is that it had wind; you can’t definitely say what the time would have been. Same goes for altitude. (You could add dew point to that as well...) Jonas Murieka’s wind correction is even more inaccurate in 200m because of wind vectors. And wind can affect athletes differently based on lane placement as well.

Wind conversion is a fun guide. It’s not iron-clad or definitive.

If Devin Hester can make a career out of being fast and playing everywhere... Why can't this kid? Seems smart and selfless. Hopefully he has the work ethic to back it up

Don't (ever) put Nigel in the same category as Hester

Give me a 4.3 man to man lockdown CB like Campbell. Lock down ! Getting players like Campbell brings the U a step closer to being able to beat teams like Clemson

Truth^

I do not understand the folks that think Bethel is a bad take. But then I was saying take him back when Campbell was supposedly ours to lose.

If Plan B is a really fast athletic kid with size from a feeder school who needs some coaching at CB, who really wants to play at UM, and who is competitive, then count me in. He’s got what you can’t coach, and I haven’t seen anyone say he doesn’t have the hips or athletic ability to play the spot. This kid looks like a legit CB prospect.

Sure, we seem to have botched db recruiting of top targets this year. That is what it is. Be mad at the staff if you want to. But don’t transfer your emotions over other kids to Bethel. That’s pointless.

Pete, has Campbell or Surtain even committed to coming in for an OV? I have seen some people mention Feb. 2 but I don't know if I have seen anybody actually confirm that they will be coming.

I don't see the problem here. 4.4 speed from MNW and he's a good football player. The **** wrong with some of you?
