Nigel Bethel commits

I'm happy he committed & proud of him.

This is a big moment for him & he definitely wanted to be a Cane for quite some time, I'm glad he gets an opportunity to stay home & ball out.

I been saying he was he was a take since back June when he came to the Mark Richt 7v7 camps & the staff really liked his upside after evaluating him then.

He's a good football player, versatile with legit natural speed & great length. He might not be a day 1 starter as a CB, but can make an instant impact on ST's as a return man.

A lot people on this board undeservedly hated on this kid heavy, well now he'll be a Cane.

And the Ryan Mayes comparisons need to stop asap, Mayes was a Dr. Krop kid who once he got to MNW the Coaches thought was soft, he didn't have anywhere near the tools & natural ability Bethel has.

This is a Coach Richt eval, not a Folden eval, have some faith. This staff doesn't just take local 3-stars that are no good just for appeasement, if Bethel was really as bad as some of you idiots have been saying he was these last few weeks the staff wouldn't have even entertained it.

gogeta4 what are some better plan C CB's that you think are better than Bethel? What do you think of Keidron Smith? Thanks in advance boss.

I’ve been saying Smith was a huge miss. Should have been a priority as soon as Jobe got shaky

Never seen smith. What separates him from the others?

Big corner that’s fluid. Might not be as fast as some wish but he’s pretty polished for a high school DB

was also about to say Ryan Mayes was not a MNW kid...hes a dr krop kid. They mostly suck. lol. He played just sr year at mnw and luke literally called him soft. He's part of the reason The Wilsons had resentment for the u...as they offered him directly over Quincy Wilson. When Anyone who watch s.fla football knew who was the better player. Thas why i lol at times at posters who say sh*t like...i trust coach so n so's eval over the board. Its some guys on this board i value opinion more so than some of our staff membersquality control guys easily.

Alsodont see Bethel as a Plan B guy as the kid literally had an offer early on in the eval period and CHOSE to verbal to the Gators. For whatever reason that was...likely randy did a good recruiting job , the track program at uf, and likely the visit hype. Dont see this as a Henley situation.

Someone help me understand this. The kid ran a sub 4.4 he has length and is from a Dade powerhouse that's always been good to us why all the negativity?

BecUse they don’t know. Never seen none of them play or know any coaches. Trust gogeta

I've been a miami hurricane fan for many years. Again played in the SEC and drafted in the 3rd round. People didn't believe in me either. If I could have chosen Miami, I would have committed. I have to say this. Some of you posters are some whiny lil ********. You are the ones that make miami appear to be soft. This is a florida kid. With speed, how could you underestimate this kid? Half yall don't know ****. Let the coached do their job. If kid played wide receiver, he can locate the ball. If kid has speed, you can't teach that. That's all a coach needs. Yes he need heart, most florida boys have that. There is no guarantee that we will get another commit from another cornerback this year. If the kid had committed else where and PS or TC don't come, we have nothing. Oh, don't let him ball out else, then your complaining about how did we miss him. So now the kid is a cane!! Support him!! Don't send negative vibes, ya lil negative whiny fake *** trolls..that part

I just wonder if he'll be physical enough to play CB. I actually really like his tape at KR and WR. I think Dugans could turn him into excellent WR here, especially in the slot.

Hopefully the plan is to redshirt him then see where he fits.

Never a good sign when a potential DB prospect has like 1 defensive highlight and it exposes bad man covg and tackling technique.

But on the bright side he's easily a Miami caliber athlete who could be a potent vertical threat and special teams weapon.

I'd bet he's a WR sooner or later and it looks like he can play. Sorry to the crybabies who think this is a wasted scholarship and evidence that the AH corners are gone.
Doesn’t mean much tbh, look at Malek Young senior highlight tape, he didn’t have many plays on defense like that either. Wouldn’t mind seeing bethels speed as an athlete on offense tbqh
Lol you cannot be serious.

You & that clown Meat were the two biggest proponents in us not taking Bethel no matter what.

You were 100% against it, you said he sucked & doesn't deserve to be at Miami. Don't hop on the bandwagon now.

Personally Im not the biggest fan of him. I understand why they like him though, its cause hes fast and has great length. Its not very complicated. What doesn't make sense is why he was the guy we were going for over Asante and Divaad, etc. And he 100% is a backup plan that we are only taking because Malek Young will no longer play and/or because they aren't confident in Campbell/Surtain.

Dude needs to RS though imo. He's long but skinny and needs to hit the weight room.

WELCOME TO THE U

Somebody can post the footage of him during paradise camp or a senior highlight or both?

Nigel Bethel Jr - Hudl

Alright. The kid is fast.

after watching that highlight tape, anyone who says he doesn't deserve to be here (brock), doesn't know what they're talking about

You can't teach that kind of speed. Kid looks very athletic. Happy for him.

Because they’re hung up on AH slurpage...I hoped they would come but at this point I’m done playing Donkey Kong with these little ****s. I think Pope, JT and Harley would smoke them dudes if we ever get the chance...

**** ****! How come you didn’t have this write up when I asked you to step in 2 weeks ago? You sold everybody now!

He's going to play ST, he shouldn't/won't need to redshirt.

I already said he was a take over a month ago & been saying it long before that.

I don't feel the need to argue all the time, I know what I'm talking about & in this particular case I heard a lot that Bethel would eventually be a Cane but I don't need to fight every battle.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters to me is us gettin back to Championship form, so I leave the nonsense to the rest lol

I'm just happy he's committing & look forward to seeing him develop over these next few years.

Congrats, Nigel! I'll take a 6'0 sub 4.4 long-armed Miami athlete ALL DAY, who at the very least provides an infusion of speed that we've been lacking for far too long.

if this kid would have never entertained us but ended up at UGA or wherever else

these same morons would be b*tchin that we let programs come in here and take local talent

Can’t be considered much more of a reach at CB than Henderson would’ve been last year.

Please don't compare him to Henderson....everybody was after that kid down the stretch...he also had lots of practice at db....not saying Bethel can't play cb.....just don't see him near the same level coming outta hs..... Henderson was looked at as playing early.....this kid is considered a project...
