Nick Roberts decommits

Saying We are Miami, is more of a circe 2001 thing man. We need to get kids in here that want to work hard to be the best. And want to be Canes. We cannot compete at the same game the SEC plays. We will not win at it, or at least we have not been winning at it... Maybe Richt is better than I give him credit for. Time will tell

No, we need to get kids in here that are the best, and make them work hard.
I'm still not understanding your point???? Do you think he is an elite recruit or not? It seems like you don't, but think we should take him anyway because we aren't capable of landing the recruits the staff really wants???? But at the same time you think he is the kind of recruit that will allow us to win at a level that will make us the type of program elite recruits come to, so are you saying he is elite???? But then your saying the SEC is just going to buy everybody, so I'm not sure where the "just win and elite recruits will come" idea is coming from??? Your posts read as you being too emotional. And maybe all that emotion is stopping a coherent point from being articulated. Like a break up letter that is all over the place.

Lets look at it like this. Best qb in the NFL, Luck, Brady, Rodgers. Best TE, Gronkowski, best CB Revis? Where were all these guys rated out of HS? They were not the top flight players, most did not attend top ten quality schools. What did they have in common? They work super hard and they are talented. Roberts is A: talented enough that he could become a good/great player under the proper development. You cannot honestly say for sure 100% that he is not. You cannot say 100% that Bandy or any other guys we are after will be either. It takes more than one thing to become great, talent and work ethic. You can overcome a lack of one with enough of another. Likewise, with not enough desire you can waste talent. Now, I can tell from the videos posted (highlights and workout vids) that this Roberts kids is a SUPER hard worker. He plays good competition and he had a fair amount of success in the 7v7 scene. I would take him. There are NO locks in recruiting. We should all know that by now. Do we need to refer to that amazing class out of northwestern? or how about the sanford trio that produced ZERO actual great players? But they were the kind of recruit that would bring us back! Oh or not. Kids with the work ethic like Roberts can drive a program in the right direction. Our programs were never built on just 5* or elite recruits. Some of our best were not the elite level guys. We pushed them there. See because it took the right players willing to work and the right program to push them there. It is either that or we got really really lucky with guys like reggie wayne, and ed reed. Who were not top flight recruits but became some of the best in school and nfl history. No it was development. I think we should take him because we can develop him into a good player.

Bring in the best? like Shawn burgess becker? matthew thomas? chad thomas? tracy howard? All guys that would, should start here day one and will be program changing type recruits blah blah blah. None have or did amount to anything. you all act like Bandy is some kind of lock to be an all acc player. Lets not forget Dallas Crawford also led sofla in picks his senior year too. Just trying to shed some light on the no player is a lock theory.

My point about the recruiting game is that when you have a talented kid committed, you should try to keep him. I honestly thing the only reason they are letting him walk is more because of his location on the map. They are new to the area and are obviously trying to give the local kids the priority treatment. I am saying the past staff initially did the same thing until the local kids burned them time and again. For money, SEC bias, scheme, girls, friends, bigger stadiums/crowds who knows but it happens a lot more with sofla recruits than anywhere else in the country. I think these kids get so hyped up they get big heads and they follow different paths. And lets not act like there have not been recruits that burned us because of money. And what I am saying, is if it gets down to the wire, and we do not have guys committed, and we are going against SEC schools, NO ONE has a great record in those situations. And we all know why. $

I think its a done deal i just hope the two birds in the bush land at UM instead of going elsewhere..

And he has spoken. Time to let Nick Roberts die. I am a fan and if we switched him out for a guy like Edwards or Wilson I am all for it. Brini I am still on the fence about. And I dont think Bandy is better then Roberts I think they are even. But hey, the coaches made their choice. Time to move on.

And to the guy that compared Bandy to LJoyner. Ahhhhhh..No. Joyner was a 5 star cant miss prospect that everyone knew was the goods. Joyner would be the "Jeudy" of this class. He would have spot regardless of who commits. Bandy aint that. We arent holding spot for him although I think he will end up in this class nonetheless.

A DB haul of Henderson, Bandy, Edwards, and Wilson or Brini and you cant get mad at that one bit. I take that all day.

Ask Pete if we holding a spot for bandy

When he has his next Q&A I definitely will. Just so we are on the same page, you are saying that if somehow Wilson, Brini and Edwards all want in to go along with Henderson (which is a longshot but lets not act like this couldnt legitimately happen)..that we would accept Bandys commitment as our 5th CB if he wanted in?

Because what im saying is that we would absolutely not. No way we take 5 CBs in this class. If Pete says otherwise I stand corrected.

I agree for the most part. That said, the only reason I believe "this staff" will flourish is the product on the field will attract more big time recruits. Example... Michigan's winning season helped bring in a top 10 class. Winning is the key!

Yes, there are elite players that can slip through the cracks. What I have been asking you is if you think it's wrong that our coaches don't view him as being an elite player? If so, fine. He's elite and the staff is wrong for not viewing him as such. If not, I don't understand what you are complaining about? Except that you seem to have this loser mentality where you don't think we will land the players the staff thinks are better, so we better be happy with what we got. No program ever gets anywhere with that mentality.
He's either a take or he isn't. Your fear of the rest of country and your belief that Richt can't land the players he thinks should be takes, is irrelevant. Fire Richt if that is the case. But you don't bring in someone you believe is Kirby Freeman, simply because you can't land Brad Kaaya. You go for Kaaya, and if you can't land players at his level, we show you the door.

These dudes have been so beat down that they don't want Richt pursuing elite players. They'd rather settle for the sure safe bet and continue to struggle with the VTs, GTs and UVAs of the world.

Good for Nick. I think he's gonna be a player. He handled his situation with Miami like a man. Class act and I wish him success in life.

Go Canes!

Good for the kid. Personally felt he should've been invited to Paradise Camp to compete and see how he stacks up.

I liked him because he was real about reping the U. Boy wanted to be here bad but we cant have the 13th best db in Florida if that, and expect to he the best team in Florida. We need elite top 3 at position to win early and often.

I watched the CB at Paradise camp for about 40 minutes... There was only one CB that I think could be better than Nick and that was Blades ... Blades and Roberts have that Dawg in them ... didn't see it ... Could be there... just didn't see it

UKnow, which others were you watching? Are you including Wilson and Edwards? Was Brini there? Henderson and Bandy were traveling with their HS team, correct?
