They won 10 games that year before. You think those kids would dign sign with miami again after a year like this? Come on man be honedt...would you uave signed with UM after a year like this?

Defensive secondary crootin has been apocryphal since Banda and Rumph arrived at Miami, Emerson is just the latest example...

They are losing guys to Cuse and Cowtown state, its not acceptable under any circumstances if Miami is to be great...

Every one of those kids was committed before the 10 win season started.

Yep. In the same cycle we lost a local kid we really wanted to syracuse. And then this double OV kid to nowheresville.

It’s about the Jimmy and Joes not the X’s And O’s. Every successful coach will tell you that. There is a reason steams like Boise St, Wisconsin, Washington etc... can only win so much? The might have great coaches but when it truly comes down to playing the big boys they just can’t match up.
 
Can’t judge the new staff on this class. They’ve been together under Diaz for all of a month or so? And coming off of a 7-6 disaster season.

We dominated the the portal for immediate needs. Let’s see what they can do with 2020 before firing everyone.

Brevin Jordan dominated the portal. Martin, Kennedy were under Richt. Can draw a direct line from Brevin to Martell, Bolden and, if he comes, Phillips. Manny, for his portal contribution, sends out cool late night tweets.

Miss State has Terrell Buckley who was an All American in college and a very good pro player and he's put guys in the league. We have a former bartender lol

That is a narrow view of the "outcry" in this thread and you know that. This is not an isolated incident and it's not outcry over Emerson, the player.

It's outcry over losing a prospect like Emerson to a school like M$U. It's outcry over the last two cycles, where we have lost several recruiting battles for Florida DBs to Baga, UbaGA, o$u, f$u, UiF, Syracuse, and (it looks like) M$U.

That is unacceptable.

The excuses are legion (losing, staffing, facilities, dorms, transition class, bag schools), but meanwhile, Jess Simpson can show up to the same circus 10 months ago with almost zero college coaching resume and sign guys like Harvey, Blissett, and Holley. And we are looking good for JHH. Coach Simpson has been in the FBS college game for a cup of coffee and currently looks like our best recruiter on the defensive side of the ball. That just shouldn't be the case.

The saving grace for Banda and Rumph is that the secondary keeps performing despite their recruiting deficiencies. Personally, results on Game Days are more important than results on Signing Day. But to pretend these continued recruiting losses in the back end of our defense aren't an issue is Ostrich-like behavior.

Miami produces the best football players.

However, i'm not optimistic we sign anyone remaining. I've followed recruiting since Damione Lewis, Ed Reed, Santana Moss, Andre King, etc. Right now I just read. I'll be 42 in June and this team and site has aged me. Hopefully development and talent evaluation grades out well in years to come for 2019.

2020 - I hope we have at least 10 wins and a foundation (hint hint) to see if we can get more than 15 recruits and not lose every top recruit in Miami.
0/20 on losing top recruits in Miami is like the odds of winning the Power Ball. I'm going to bet we do better next year. We'll take 20 recruits next year and hit the portal up. Baby steps.

What new staff? The D staff is the exact same staff with Baker as the only change.

Why shouldn't it be? He was made a priority as the season progressed. He's a 3-star Florida kid committed to Mississippi State, not a 4-5 star kid committed to UGA, Bama, FSU, UF or others where big bags are involved. He seemed interested. We need DB depth because our numbers are thin. His tape shows a kid who would fit nicely in our system. Yet we can't pull him away? I can see why some would be frustrated or at least puzzled by it.
