New DT offer(2019)

Those 3 guys you mentioned were 4 stars on multiple sites

MJ was a 4* on Rivals only
Rousseau was a 4* on Rivals only
And Garvin was a 3* everywhere at this same pt in his career. He didn't become a 4* until after his Senior year, on any site.

Come on, I know you follow closely enough to know this. Even if stars do matter to some extent, it only matters where kids are ranked at the end of the recruiting cycle, not in June when there's still a whole season to be played

Sure you did. You had no idea this kid missed his entire junior season. Watch where this kid goes if he hits the camp circuit this summer. He'll blow up at STA if he stays healthy this fall.

So you’re basing this opinion of yours off of watching this one Spring Highlights video in which he is abusing an awful LG that literally looks his feet are in a tub of pudding? Is there another highlight tape I’m not seeing? I think every person on this board could run past that OL he’s matched up against.

Seriously. 16 of our recruits last cycle were blue chippers.

So I'm curious what M3N means when he says we don't land very many

I guess you haven’t been following Miami long. As a whole over past couple decades we were never a team that won the National recruiting title. We’ve landed a few sprinkled in here and there, but mostly it’s been guys who fly a little under the radar.

You could be happy about Munoz commitment without dragging Good through the mud.

Wake up son. We don’t land very many Blue chippers. Never have and never will. Bags get you blue chips
You right

No, I am basing it on the fact that he is being coached by Jason Taylor. I will trust Jesse Simpson who is generally recognized as an outstanding defensive line technician and who assessed this kid. Now what you see is an athletic kid with an explosive first and second step and looks like Taylor has coached him well on technique. The OL is essentially just standing there. Meaningless. I am willing to bet if this kid camps this summer he blows up. Of course, no need to waste his time since he got his offer and committed on the spot. I am willing to bet he blows up for STA this fall.

The staff personaly picked his competition today at camp. Per Ivns he won every rep.

SBNation just ran an article last recruiting season about the teams on pace to jump into the "Blue Chip Ratio" grouping. Meaning those teams with enough blue chip recruits to legit compete for a national title. The two new teams on the cusp were us and Penn State.

Once again, I don't understand what your argument is? Do you have a problem with the staff's evaluations or the staff's ability to land the recruits they prize?

Didn’t whine about anything. And I prefaced what I said by saying I didn’t want to come off as a mope. Just want us to be elite again and not take diamonds in the rough in June. We are the ******* Miami Hurricanes. We should land 4 and 5 Star DTs on the regular. I’m tired of watching kids like Ryan Fines and Tyreic Martin (if he even actually exists) take up roster spots just because they are warm, big bodies. I don’t know enough about Simpson to trust his evaluations at this point. So sorry for not being a blind *** fan and questioning an offer. I’ll try to share your opinion next time to make it easier on you.

FWIW I agree with you. However, I think Good and Munoz > Fines and Martin.

And I think it's also relevant that we had a top 10 class last year. Richt has always been a strong recruiter. He will get a decent share of high-rated guys. But I think/hope he'll get a decent share of lower-rated guys who end up really good.

I’m dumbfounded that elite DT recruits aren’t lining up the come play early in this system. With as paper thin as our DT depth chart is next year, we should be able to hand pick who we want. Not be content with projects in June.

Watch him in the drills against the bags. Imo he has the mold of the Bosa’s. Very lean but solid athletic kid with a motor. He’s a take in my eyes regardless who we are after. This is a kid that gets a late offer from Big 10 country and turns into a 1st day pick.

Where’s @Paranos when you need him??? 👀

TAKE!

Who else see my dog with the Blades name on the back? Come eat Munoz.

You're not really answering my question. Do you think this staff has a history of offering project DTs during this bad DT recruiting era?
If the answer is no, I'm not sure why you think this offer is different? If the answer is yes, who are these other reaches?
If we've only ever offered elite DTs, especially early, during this bad DT recruiting period, we've just missed out on most of them, then it stands to reason that the staff thinks this guy is an elite DT.
