New Artie Burns highlights

Need a corner every cycle, and this year it is Burns but I can see him getting burn at both spots until he settles in at CB.

God **** it someone had to mention Ed Reed.

Look I'm as optimistic as the next guy but don't bust that but just yet. Our best season in recent memory was 2009 and then we took an epic dump in 2010.

Cautious optimism people
 
Burns, Bush, Carter...those are the types of athletes we've been sorely missing in the secondary for a long time
 
Our secondary is gonna have some sick talent next year and for the future. If the defensive line progresses and gets better pressure, this D is on its way. If not, no matter how good our secondary is, they won't play up to their talent level.

Don't know how much faith I have at CB with McGee leaving. Finnie and Howard need to make some huge strides, and even Gunter still has a ways to go. Let's see how this staff develops talent before we crown these guys.

You must be missing the flashes that Tracy Howard has been showing over these last couple of games. Tracy has been showing up and showing why he was so highly recruited. Tracy just needs a year in the weight room.

We're only two years into this staff and we already have plenty of examples of player development:

- Perryman
- Eddie Johnson
- Stephen Morris
- Gunter
- McGee
- Olsen Pierre
- Gionni Paul
- Davon Johnson
- Tommy Streeter
- Jacory

Even guys like Kacy Rodgers, Thurston Armbrister, and Tyrone Cornelius have been playing significantly better towards the end of this year than they were in the beginning. The list goes on.

I have far more faith in this staff with regards to player development than I did with the previous staff. The only example of player development I can think of that would be on par with the jump Eddie Johnson took this year during that regime was Leonard Hankerson and it was because of Mark Duper, not the coaches.

Yup. It's tough on corners when there is no pressure up front but Tracy had a big learning curve and he seems to be turning the corner.
 
Kind of incredible that we had such a lack of depth at CB & S with so much talent in the area

Why do some people here act like it's such a bad thing to be a safety instead of CB?


I think Burns will get work at both but will have to really beat out the CB's already here to get the spot there. If he does that I'm perfectly fine with keeping him there. But with what we've seen at safety besides Bush this season, I don't understand why people don't want to see some great players go there.

I would rather have him at Safety.

Having the speed that Bush, Burns, Jenkins, and Carter bring to the table will be ridiculous at safety, plus he has the upside to be a head hunter just like Bush.

We don't need corners this class.... unless MacKensie Alexander wants in (doubt it).

Offer Quincy Wilson at CB next year and all the people who like big CBs (like myself) will be satisfied.

It has been said many times...there are just certain areas Miami, of all places, should never lack in talent.

I would add linebacker to that list, SoFla is crawling with D-1 linebackers

2 questions

Do you think we have somebody else on the roster right now who is like Artie at Corner?

As far as corners go.... I think Ladarius Gunter is more physically gifted then Burns but after him, No. I do think Burns could beat out some guys at the CB position but I think Tracy Howard has a lot of upside.

As far as safeties go.... Bush and Burns are similar athletically, IMO, but I think Bush is a better football prospect. He has just as much upside as Bush to me though.

I just think that the CB position wont be a problem next year at all w/ Gunter, Howard, Finnie, and Crawford.... at least until the 2014 recruiting class.

Compare that to the safety position and besides Jenkins and Bush, we still have another year of Highsmith and Rodgers..... SMH. Burns and Carter could push those 2 to actually be better or they can just beat them out of a job and we won't have to worry about seeing them on the field again.
 
I'm not really seeing any CB cover skills in that video or his video from last year...maybe he can do it, and if someone has video with that footage please post. But being like 6'1 190 OMG Corner! is pretty Randy-esque thinking.
