New Artie Burns highlights

I like him at Safety.

I LOVE him at Corner.

Just wait until he's 6'1" 210lb's covering ground laying the smack down! You're going to love this kid on the field period...

Golden pulled in a huge CB class last recruiting cycle. Gunter has panned out. Howard, Crawford, Dortch, and Hope are developing. This class is small and Safety is the focus. Burns will be tried there IMO. Boy can cover ground in a hurry and lay the wood. Mix him in with Bush, Jenkins, and Crawford and it's makes perfect sense...

We have more depth at CB, but Bush, Jenkins, and now Carter look like a strong Safety trio.

I say play Burns where he can make the biggest impact.

I think he can be a lockdown CB, and with his hitting ability and frame, he should really excel in zone.

That kid will be a first rounder CORNER. 'Bama uses corners that look and play exactly like Artie Burns, and they are closing in on 3 of those first round corners in 4 years.

Problem is you have to look at the roster and see where deficiencies were. When Golden took over Safety wasn't as big of a concern as CB. You had Tele, Ray Ray, Highsmith, and Rodgers. Now Highsmith and Rodgers aren't up to Miami standards but Safety still wasn't as bad off as CB. This recruiting cycle is focusing on Safety and Burns could be one **** of a Free Safety. The boy can cover ground and loves to hit? Why worry about who's being covered when Gunter, Howard, Finnie, Crawford, Dortch, and Hope are battling for position? **** CB was addressed so well that Davis hauled *** because of competition.

The future is bright in the secondary...

We already have one **** of a Free Safety in Bush. I think we've addressed our depth at both positions (though more so at CB).

Now it's about finding out who the alphas are.

I think Burns has rare measurables for a CB, and I feel secure with Bush, Jenkins, and Carter at Safety.

LOL!

A 6'1" 190lb out of HS CB that is already playing Safety in a class dedicated to Safeties is going to be a CB? Just wait until he hits a college strength and conditioning program...

Burns has Safety written all over him...

Come on! Bush is 6'1" 190 lbs right now and he's one of our most promising safeties. Burns is 6'1" 185lbs with quicks just like Bush and you don't want him pushing Bush? Leave CB to the kids who have been battling for the CB position over the past year. Burns is bigger than Ed Reed already when he came into the program already and has more speed? Have his *** pushing Bush please!

Nick Saban wanted him badly. Don't even need to see the highlights when you hear that.

Saban also lusted for Bush (knyuck, knyuck). Dude has a next-level eye for talent.

I feel good about Artie.

True, but Artie and Deon are no-brainers.

Still speaks volumes when Saban wants an OOS DB prospect that much that he's willing to go in outmatched.

Good to see Amari's "pipeline" never got a single rivet.

I think he would make a **** of a safety as well but big, physical CBs with his speed and athleticism don't grow on trees. That dude up at FSU is a monster. I think if Bush and Jenkins continue to develop and Carter balls I could easily see Burns at CB.

What's the difference between Burns pushing Bush, and Burns pushing Howard, Crawford, etc...?

Burns looks like a lockdown guy to me. Big, physical, fast, quick. He just has the look of a guy who plays in a telephone booth. Bush and Carter always looked like "wide open" players to me, if that makes sense. More comfortable in space.

Burns looks like a "hulk smash" kind of CB. You just line him up across from a guy and tell him, "That WR doesn't eat tonight."

You just sold me even more on playing this kid at safety. All of the CB's we brought in at CB last recruiting cycle are fast and can cover. Burns is the last line of defense where he can cover and finish the play off. If he translates later at CB in the NFL then so be it. This is CFB. Let that boy freelance and punish people. We'll see...

With a small recruiting class where CB has already been addressed I see Burns at Safety and that's not a bad thing...

Playing a lot of cover three with our corners playing a lot of deep third isn't it good for our corners to have some safety like qualities?

Some characteristics of Dre Kirkpatrick, but I think he has better speed by the time he gets in a college weight training program. Long, rangy and I think he's a top 3 corner for us by the end of next season. Been saying that for some time. These highlights further reinforce my belief.

He has elite closing burst to the football. Wow. We cannot lose a guy like him and Collins in the same class. **** would leave me salty.

As for the CB/S debate, do we have any footage of him in coverage? I'd like to see his fluidity and whether or not he's too stiff.

edit: Nevermind, just saw an interview with him saying the coaches want him at corner. Good enough for me.

Kid could be the goods. I am excited we are building quality depth across the board again.

Question, is Artie the safety that got leaked he had an offer and the kid committed and then found out he didn't have an offer after all? Only to get one later? I though that was a MNW safety.

Free Safety: Bush, Burns, Rogers
Strong Safety: Jenkins, Carter, Highsmith

Next year safety depth chart
