Nelson transforms body, in line to start against UF

All of those things factor into it being a scary situation. True freshman winning the job means that there's no one ahead of him better, which means development has been lackluster, which means subpar recruiting, which means...

In a vacuum, it's fine - may the best man win. But all of the things being in such a position implicates is really worrisome. And it's not like he gets to warm up - he's going to face probably the best defensive front he'll go against all season Game 1.

Stay scared, then

This young man's development may be one of the most pleasant surprises in recent UM history. I had him pegged as a RS based on size and was hoping he could contribute by year 3. But now, if he performs up to the current hype and continues to develop and improve, he may be in the league after year 3. Crazy.

55lb gain and only an increase of 4% in body fat, impressive if true. Kid looked downright skinny when we were recruiting him. I'm looking forward to see how he does in live action. My only concern is Donaldson struggled as a TF and he was a mountain.

Scaife I think could atleast be serviceable and LT being that he was good at RT( I know its completely different position) but zion has to atleast be ok right? Going up against garvin every day is at least if not better than what the gators have to offer.

Feels like we’ve been playing our best guards at tackle for a long ******* time.

Crazy situation all the way around but I feel better about the interior of the line which was also a massive problem last year.

Sure in the pros LT is maybe the most valuable spot out there and not to discredit that, but we can’t forget there’s 4 other spots on the line that feel the domino effect every time we have to shuffle around

What you stated about Donaldson being a mountain might just be the biggest reason he did struggle. He probably lacked the flexibility & stamina that Zion may possess. All is unknown right now and I'm sure Zion will have his struggles as well, but hopefully minimal.

He should be a RS. Our program is not where it needs to be thus he is starting. The program is 3 years away from being top 10.

You don't strike me as a glass half full, or even glass half empty sort of person.
I'm guessing you're more like a "the glass is completely empty, it'll never be full again, and I might as well smash it and use the broken shards to slit my wrists" type of guy.
