This is the one visiting team game where we have solid chance for good competitive convo on the board and a friendly respect experience at the game.

looking forward to both. This is not holes gators bs.

IDGAS that was funny!

I like the Neb. guy here. He isn't a doucher like our resident turds and holes.

As far as special teams go, it's a decent unit, but poorly coached on the return. There were penalties all over the place when we returned the ball. Also, Phillip Dorsett should never be allowed to return so much as a library book let alone a punt/kick. You never felt confident in him and it always looked like disaster was about to happen. That being said, when we got a clean return off, something magical usually happened. We returned a blocked FG for a TD against UNC. We don't sell out to block punts like Florida does. It's not the most aggressive unit we have. Defensively, we get downfield very quickly and allow very few returns and never give up big ones. However, we lost the best punter in the country to the draft in O'Donnell and we don't know what the drop off will be on our return defense. The guys replacing him are unproven and there's very little analysis out on them. We'll see how they look come September 1st going forward. O'Donnell also doubled as the kickoff guy and he was superior at that as well with few returns and no big ones to speak of. He will be missed. Our FG game is atrocious. Matt Goudis is a 50-50 shot from 40 yards out. I wouldn't trust him to make a FG to win a sandwich let alone a college football game. So the FG is bad, defense on the return is stellar, and offensive return balances out penalties with the occasional TD return.

Well thought out Ted. O'Donnell was unbelievable last year. Hope the Baconator or the Cypress Bay kid can be half what he was. Dorsett definitely has no business ever returning kicks again with the other candidates now on the roster. I can think of a half dozen guys I'd put out there ahead of him (Coley, Carter, A. Crawford, Elder, Burns, **** even try lil Ray III). I leave Duke out cause he's too valuable to lose to injury.

My top three choices are...

1. Elder.
2. Berrios.
3. Gray if he gets in.

I love Cole and Duke and they are electric when they get the ball in their hands, but I don't want to risk the injuries. I don't know if Carter, Crawford, and Ray are fast enough. As for Burns, he looked a little confused/out of place when he was returning at the end of last season. That might have just been growing pains with learning the college level return game. He very well may have grown as a return man since then.

I'm with you on Berrios and Gray for sure. Just don't to count my eggs just yet. Berrios needs to shirt this year, and if Gray somehow gets that 18 then he shoots right up that list. Burns just needs to settle down a bit, let the game slow down for him. The VT game was not a good barometer for me to judge his return skills. Gonna give him a mulligan on that game. Turnovers lost us that one obviously, but there's nothing we can do about that now. Gotta move on. Reason I said RLIII is because I honestly don't know where else he is gonna get any PT.

All solid points. As far as Ray goes, I don't know how else he would see the field in meaningful time.

RLIII needs to suit up as Sebastian. It's the only way he's gonna see the field.

Going to be tough for a FR QB, but we will be running the ball a good amount to start the season. Especially against UL and Nebraska. Just gotta hope qb manages the game and doesn't make terrible decisions

i like Burns in the return game.....he is BIG and runs like the wind. Kid took some back in high school ...he was a special teams ace for NW.. I wouldnt mind him returning some next yr. Guy slike Ray Jr should be balls out trying to land a returner spot....my boy Dorsett is too indecisive to even show his long speed in the return game....we take some returns back this yr imo. We have some head hunters as blockers back there imo...Guys like Jamal Carter (if he is not starting) Juwan Young, Owens, Standish Dobard want to hurt people

special teams guy is what Lil Ray will be....might crack some rotations later on in his career. He looked servicable in the spring as a cb...didnt look too out of sorts imo. Look at a guy like Fentress (though a walk on at first) i can see a similar pattern for LIl Ray if he puts in the work like Fentress did. Fentress is likely in the two deep safety rotation and will allow one of our incoming safeties to redshirt (which imo is really good) Fentress **** sure earned his schollie on special teams two years ago for me...

I agree. Fentress has really done well for himself here. If RLIII has a career like that I will be the first to give him love.

I actually think Nebraska's offense matches up favorably with our defense. Bear with me here.

I think their offense is similar to Florida's in that they're going to line up and run the ball. I don't expect them to come out in 3-4 wide sets on first down.

Their offensive style will play into Doritos and Golden's hand similar to Florida: run, run, pass. We should be able to get our sub-packages in depending on the situation

Now, Florida still put up over 400 yards on us (:ohlord:), but we didn't look ill-prepared for anything they did on offense.

I mean, that is the philosophy of our coaches.

Prevent the big play, give up the underneath stuff for extended drives with the hopes/expectations that the offense will eventually make a mistake.

It's a horrible ******* strategy that won't work against well-coached teams however.

But in a nutshell, yes, we should hope for 5 turnovers.

Yeah it is, but if you're playing in the MAC, since you have lots of turds, mistakes will be make, and you will get lucky on occasions. What a siht strategy.

I think they go with this since there are zero in-game adjustments they are capable of making, and you just hope for the best.

We'll know all we need to know after Louisville. We win there, we win in Lincoln as well. Even the great Ken Dorsey was very shakey on the road at UW.
