My opinion

Golden needed to knock it dead with the last two recruiting classes and he failed. Too many jags and too many character issues. You can attribute the lack of difference makers to the NCAA ordeal, but there is no excuse for swinging and missing as much as this staff did. This is an execution problem with evaluations, both from a talent and character standpoint.

Golden is a great recruiter and sells the Miami value proposition exceptionally well, but unfortunately if you are selling the wrong kids you are up the creek from the get go.

D'onofrio cant recruit thats the main reason Miami still has depth issues on defense.

Lol but if you think this team has "too many" JAGS like i said those are words that ppl w/o a football brain say...... i guess you believe Duke has better defensive talent then Miami?

Zone - I would argue Miami's current defensive talent level, when you factor in depth, is in the bottom third of the NCAA. It's that bad when you take an objective look at it.

The defensive scheme they are asked to play puts them in the bottom 10% of the NCAA. We will be there too when we give up 500 yards to Duke and Pitt.

forget about depth, their is enough talent on this roster that is capable of keeping VT well under 549 yards of offense and 42 points.... regardless of what you say.

Always said golden was a very good recruiter, not great. But when you compare some of the players he brought in with guys at fsu or other programs of the same caliber. **** leaves alot to be desired.

he was recruiting with sanctions hanging over his head. my friend coached gerald bowman and david williams both were all americans and liked miami and were convinced by other coaches we were gotting destroyed by ncaa.

You can squeeze something out of a jag if you scheme properly. And you can make good players look like **** with a ****** scheme. We have talent issues no doubt but the number failure on this team is the defensive scheme. You get a legit DC here and you would be surprised at how good this defense can be with all the same players. They won't be an Alabama but they will be solid.

Totally disagree. These teams handled VTech offense: ECarolina, Marshall, GTech, UNC, Pitt, and Duke. How many of them have more talent then us?

We defensive starters are currently: 5 Srs, 4 Jrs, 2 So
The primarly backups are: 3 Srs, 2 Jrs, 4 So, 2 Fr

Its not like we are insanely young on defense.

Stupid post Pete...this has ZERO to do with talent. Talent isn't the reason Wake Forest and VT have there best offensive games of the year against us. Our scheme and coaching are terrible. How many guys on Wake Forest are better then this "Jags"....stop it.

Stop with excuses. We have talent it's just being incredible mismanaged. This defensive scheme sucked last year and now it's being exposed again once we get into decent comp. ****, even UF had 450yds.

I was surprised when we let Eric Ebron run around unimpeded all night at UNC. I was worried when we had LBs covering the slot against WF and they completed like 70%....I didn't want to believe we could be that stubbornly stupid. I now have concluded my initial instinct was right. We ARE that stupid. It has ZERO to do with the players....ZERO.

Lol @ JAGs. Wake hasn't scored more than 3 points since we played them, Pete.

even if it is a "JAG" problem on this team, even though it's not, how is that not a Dorito problem as well?

He cant recruit therefore he cant improve the level of talent on this team regardless.

Could it also be possible that some kids don't want to play for this scheme hence why golden missed on some kids?

100% agree, we should be able to evaluate character issues coming in ,they show early in life. Rather have a 3 star over-achiever then a 5 star with issues.

Don't know why you think Pete is some guru talent evaluator. I would wait a little while before I label guys like Hamilton a JAG.

Could very well be related to our struggles getting DTs....want to play 2 gap or 1 gap....you decide.

Bottom line is the past 3 years the only team we have played with better recruiting classes is Florida State. Our performance is on the coaches and specifically Al Golden. I have said it a million times and I will say it again. AL GROH sucks and has always sucked. Good coaches don't get fired at Georgia Tech.

Pete going hard trying to distract people from the problem while also attempting to puff out his recruiting knowledge chest. Looking for media credentials or something?

Pete's my boy but he is pulling a Dorito and Golden: trying to the be the smartest person in the room but failing to see what is in front of their faces
