Golden is also working with sanctions from when your buddy was in charge. Troll
When you take the blinders off COMPLETELY and look at it from this neutral perspective..... Golden needed to get more done. I understand he tried but he still didn't get it Done. I hate to mention FSU bbut UM has to step it up on several different fronts to keep up. Can't allow Fsu to dominate.
Semantics. The threat of sanctions and you knew what he meant.
How do you know that was the issue? You're just assuming it was. Most kids said it wasn't the deciding factor. Kirkland and Thomas specifically said the reason they didn't pick Miami was they didn't trust the coaches. That's an issue.
Suger, you lose a lot of credibility in your position when you belittle Jermaine Grace's addition to this team.

What Thomas said was an excuse to hide the fact that he wanted to be at FSU and not Miami. Like I said in another thread he always wanted to go to FSU, that was his first choice from the beginning. It is not like Miami was his first choice and then he developed a trust issue in the coaches so he switched to the Noles.
How the **** did Golden miss on Greg Bryant and Alexander? they never had offers. Jesus Suger, you're spewing vomit all over this board tonight.
You're telling me that you wouldn't want Alexander or Greg Bryant in this class, given what you know today about Robinson and Collins not coming?
Pete,
Toby Johnson has not signed a LOI. I think you mentioned him in one of your write ups last week. Is there any chance?

For posterity...
IMO, Golden had a few missteps in this year's process...
-Matthew Thomas...I only care about the end result here...the fact that it looks like he never really wanted to come here doesn't help Golden's choice. Looks like a Marvin Jones situation. Also, lacking a backup plan to Thomas hurt, too...Skai Moore (curious considering he's local, wanted to come, and starred at a Golden Camp)...or somebody, ANYBODY should have been on speed dial today.
-Rashard Robinson...we didn't officially offer until he came to camp...by that point he was already an LSU commit. You gotta offer these kids earlier...and I think they realized their mistake as they put the full court press on him. Too little, too late, though.
-Alex Collins...whether it was not securing the commitment or knowing when to move on or have an adequate Plan B (there were TONS in-state to choose from)...there was an obvious misstep by the staff here to fill the RB need. Edwards is a nice get, but I won't be fooled...IMO, he's a fullback. They had legitimate interest in AJ Turman early on, but after he committed to Georgia, we didnt hear about any backup plans to Collins until we started recruiting Derrick Green.
-Defensive Tackle...JUCO kids are tough to recruit...the majority of the best play in Texas, Mississippi, Kansas, or California and by the time they are 20 years old have roots established (West Coast, SEC country, or in the Mid-West whether it be a family or a kid) and they are working with a small window to play and succeed (sanctions really hampers recruiting some of these kids). But, they swung and missed on every JUCO DT they even sniffed around, so far and completely missed on "local" freshman recruits. Again, no adequate backups is a problem here, moreso at the JUCO end. Missing on everything here is definitely a BIG knock on Golden's 2013 class. He should have been more proactive once Bryant started getting fruity back in the fall, but we really only focused on JUCOs outside of Bryant/Bostwick. I believe the staff felt certain ONE of them would be a 'Cane, but it turns out neither will be.

Talk about not seeing the forrest for the trees. Did you miss the entire point of my post? Matthew Thomas was a CANT MISS STUD, right in our back yard. It's not acceptable to miss out on kids like that.
If Al Golden can win without him, hey, that's great. I won't judge him until after this season.
If he can't win this season, then I will rightly say he A.) Can't recruit South Florida and B.) Isnt' a winner.
He deserves no more honeymoon.
No, I see the point of your post just fine. I was just curious as to that particular statement.
You didn't just say Thomas was a can't miss stud, you said "the best linebacker recruit we will ever see in South Florida". That is an awfully bold proclamation right there.
So in your mind, the fact that Golden and Co. missed on Thomas means he can't recruit South Florida, despite landing such South Florida players like Tracy Howard, Deon Bush, Duke, Coley, etc... ? I'm honestly curious about your thoughts, not trying to be a smartass.
Well, whether you're trying to be a smartass or not, it's irrelevant to me.
Golden failed massively in South Florida this year. He missed on Collins, Bryant, Bain, Bostwick, Thomas, Kirkland, and several others (Greg Bryant, Rashard Robinson, McKenzie Alexander, etc)
We only ended up with like 3 recruits from south florida. SOUTH FLORIDA, the hottest recruiting bed in the country.
Rivals, ESPN, etc have us correctly ranked in the 20's. Which is exactly where this class deserves to be. Which is exactly where this team deserves to be in a couple years with our recruiting efforts.
If you don't understand what a massive fail that is, I have a bridge in new jersey I'd like to sell you.
But hey, go on and celebrate a class with guys like august edwards and and underweight jermaine grace.
ya-friggin-hoo.
Not sure why you are so defensive, I was merely asking you questions. You are trying to be argumentative and put words in my mouth. Not once have I said anything regarding my thoughts on this class. You, however, have side stepped answering the questions I posed to you.
You honestly think Thomas is the best linebacker we will ever see in South Florida?
You don't think Golden and Co. can recruit South Florida despite last years haul?
Is it not possible that players from other parts of the country are better than or equal to South Florida recruits on occasion?
He missed on Bain? Greg Bryant? Mackenzie Alexander? Those were players not recruited by Miami. He did miss out the others that you listed because they were recruited heavily by Miami.
I didn't say he was the best linebacker, I said he was the best linebacker recruit. I stand by that.
I think Al Golden did a terrible job of recruiting south florida this year. That fact stands on its own. Look at the numbers.
South Florida is our backyard. Miami needs to dominate South Florida recruiting. That's a ****ing job requirement for the head coach at Miami.
