More Fraudulent SEC Hype: Matt Canada To LSU

Gotta give The Franchise props on this one. Though he had the coach's name wrong in his post, he saw Canada was "the next up and comer" for OCs in college.

Now we get to see if Canada really can do damage with more talent on the roster ... Or, if this past season at Pitt was mostly smoke and mirrors.

Craziest rise to prominence we've seen in some time. Doerin was dumb enough to fire Chaneyda last year. He goes to Pitt, turns college football on its ear with that crazy motion and deception then gets a giant contract from LSU a year later.

I think he got creative with what he had at his disposal. Good for him for adapting to surroundings. If he has that same offense at LSU with their OLine and WR group he is probably going to do well. We shall see, but i wonder if this is an end game for us in the D Smith sweepstakes

His offense was creative but he also had a decent qb, outstanding rb and a fast *** wr for those jet sweeps. It will be interesting to see how he modifies his offense to fit the LSU talent

Yeah because LSU can't muster up the talent Pitt had.

This dude Matt Chaneyda is the real deal. Glad to have him out of Pitt. His offense is amongst the most dynamic in football.

Chise you've called these up and coming coaches with more regularity than most.

I'm curious.

Was our defense that good against them or did they not hit on all cylinders? We stymied the same team that rolling into Death Valley for the W the week after by putting up 40.

Next year our front 7 should be absolutely savage....

We were ok against them, but if you rewatch the game they left a lot of points on the field. We were fortunate in that game.

the truth is lsu wanted kiffen he wanted to be a head coach more and looks to be willing to pay his dues this time starting low, matt Canada is as good as they were gonna do after that. maybe they could of tried for Lincoln riley or someone with more name recognition but Canada knows what he is doing. he has had success at multiple programs

teams get in trouble when the shoot for big names instead of finding the right fit.

I know the te dropped an easy td and there was at least 2-3 more big plays left out there

They haven't had a good QB since mettlenberger in 2012, and he sucked. So, yah, he will need to find a good QB.

Fact, he had a lot to work with at Pitt. He will have great talent at LSU as well. Not saying he sucks, not saying he is great. Just reserving judgment and waiting to see how he adapts to the LSU talent and who he is playing against. Those jet sweeps are going nowhere against bama and some of the better defenses he will face.

Maybe he can find a reject from Tennessee like he had at Pitt.

I just find it funny they wanted to be more of a passing team then hire a guy who has a power run scheme

Did they specifically mention wanting a pass-first guy? Or did they just want to open up the offense a bit more from the previous "three yards and a cloud of dust"? Canada may be a run-first guy but his offense is hardly just lining up in the I and handing to the tailback right up the gut. He uses innovative motion and formations to get defenses going one way while the play goes the other.

I mean the fans have been wanting it, i think the AD had mentioned wanting to go that route and the kiffin talk made it seem like they would, i aint knocking canadas offense at all just found it funny that the fans were screaming for something more dynamic passing wise and hire him

They said they wanted a "spread offense for a dual threat QB". I don't think they ever made specific mention of being a passing team.

And most of their message board fans want an offense like Ohio State ... The "Power-Spread".

They wanted to air the ball out more than what they were doing especially with dupre there, still find it funny they didnt even sign someone to match that

So, this will certainly make our matchup to begin 2018 pretty interesting. Hopefully coach Richt has our offense humming by then. You know the defense will be playing lights out with tons of experience.

Maybe a decent hire but I thought mighty LSU was going to break the bank to get a YUGE name to fix their offense and their program? Let's see what this guy does without James Conner but this once again feels like an underwhelming SEC hire- especially when it was deemed as important as their head corch hire.

Matt Canada has been hired to be offensive coordinator for LSU Tigers

This is a real deal hire and we have to face that offense in two years with 100% better athletes across the board compared to what he did with Pitt.
