Maybe a decent hire but I thought mighty LSU was going to break the bank to get a YUGE name to fix their offense and their program? Let's see what this guy does without James Conner but this once again feels like an underwhelming SEC hire- especially when it was deemed as important as their head corch hire.

Matt Canada has been hired to be offensive coordinator for LSU Tigers

This dude Matt Chaneyda is the real deal. Glad to have him out of Pitt. His offense is amongst the most dynamic in football.

I think he did a good job with little skill position talent in Pitt. Probably not the big name splash hire but I'd take him over Kiffin any day.

Little skill position talent? They had like 3 solid backs and probably the fastest player in the acc in quadree Henderson #10 .

Fair enough but I was under the impression they were going to get an established big time name that had big time program experience. It very well might end up being a great hire but everytime you talk to a cultist from the SEC when there's an opening they never admit that they're just like everyone else and have to occasionally hire an "up and comer". They start rattling off high end NFL names first and work their way down from there.....until they hire a Colorado State corch....that just lost to Air Force.

Gotta give The Franchise props on this one. Though he had the coach's name wrong in his post, he saw Canada was "the next up and comer" for OCs in college.

Now we get to see if Canada really can do damage with more talent on the roster ... Or, if this past season at Pitt was mostly smoke and mirrors.

Pitts offense was for real this year. That was the most impressive performance by our defense all yr imo. We held them to 21 on d, they had a kick return touchdown also to get to 28. But they put up 42.3 ppg this yr. Our d looked better against them than either Clemson or penn state when they played.

None of those guys would get any burn at Miami besides Connor.

Canadas offense was ranked like 42nd in the country but they were really efficient and scored tds instead of field goals in the red zone. This is a very good hire for them imo. Their other candidates were Steve sarkisian and mark helfrich who would have been good too

I think this is a sensational hire. He ran the most imaginative running offense at Pittsburgh I have ever seen.

IMO this is exactly what the doctor ordered for LSU - Canada was able to take Pitt's offense to another level. LSU has been stuck in the mud with their pre-historic Schembechler ball for what feels like forever and this is a step outside of that box.

I like it.
