MJJ's top 7

That Nebraska article did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling, and I'm one who normally pays little attention to such pieces. But there was a lot to NOT like in that story.

Dee, is Pho too proud to listen to Miami if we strike out with Johnson?

Locally, what QB do you even look at? If by local you’re talking South FL. Scalzo is too short, so is Daniel Richardson. TJ Smith has good size but he’d have to have an incredible season to warrant an offer. Who else is there? I think they’ll need to do damage control and circle around with Phommachanh or start looking to offer some other QBs.

There are plenty of local talented QBs in recent history we just missed on them. Lamar Jackson, Flowers, etc.

We didn't miss on perry yet he still hasn't made that jump we all thought he would. I don't even know what my point is, I just know the local guy at qb hasn't worked out for us, like ever.

Lol. It is a valid point. None of our legendary QBs where from Miami. I just wanted to point out that we should continue recruiting Miami QBs because alot of them go on to be great QBs just not at the U.

2 is plenty? Im sorry but you can name on one hand the local qbs who were headliners that we didnt get. Rohan davey, griese, teddy and as a push the two you named. Neither of which would fit in our system though. Local is just not the direction i would want us looking for a qb.

Bridgewater would have been a huge success as a Cane, I believe. But I do sometimes wonder if Jackson or Flowers would have done well at Miami. I'm just can't understand why it's not clicking with Perry.

So I saw the article, read the comments on the board, then read the article. That seemed like your typical homer fluff piece. Obviously, MJJ said very positive things about Nebraska but he was saying the same things about Miami after his visit. His sister pushing for him is a wildcard but considering he hasn't even visit Nebraska yet, I don't think he's gone. Good news is that we will know in a short period of time.

Also, remember this time last year we had ****kowski committed and got Jarren last minute.

I named those 2 becuase they where in this years draft. Other recents are Geno Smith, Terry Bridgwater and Jake Rudock where all recent and from dade/broward. Matt Stafford is from Tampa and there are plenty of other Dade/Broward QBs that werent good enough to play on sundays, but would have been better than we had. Plus I can see a few more like Shea Patterson doing very well over the next few years.

Stafford is from Dallas. Aaron Murray is from Tampa.

You are right he went to HS in Texas which would make him a texas guy. I usually throw him in as a Florida guy since he was born in Tampa, but for this debate it doesn't fit the criteria. Murray is a good one I forgot about though. Thanks.

What the backup plan? seems like all the eggs are in the Johnson basket, are they going to see any other QB prospects?

I haven’t kept up with MJJ family stuff. Why is his sister in Nebraska? Isn’t the family in Oregon, or are they in different places. Was wondering if maybe she was an athlete.

Youre just thinking of any names that did decent in college and assuming theyre style of play translates to our offense.i get ur point so i wont argue semantics but matthew stafford is from texas not tampa. Shea went to img but he aint from here either. Any area can put out some of any set position as the game is played at a high level all over. But unless ur picking a qb rich area (cali, texas,Pennsylvania etc.)than it would be unwise to lock onto one set area and say this is where im gonna get this position from regardless of the player.

Your right about Stafford he was born in Tampa but when to high school in texas so he should be considered Texas. I will take him off the list. Jackson and Flowers are basically better versions of Malik. They have better legs then him and can throw the ball better than him. If either of them where on the team last year they would have started. I understand what you are saying about the offense and obviously you need them to be a fit, but most of the other guys I name would have been here under Golden and would have been able to play in his offense. I agree with you we shouldn't lock on to Miami for QBs, but I was saying that if we find a good QB from Miami that wants to come play for us we should take him even though most of our great QBs where from other states.

This situation is concerning but I'm sure the staff is preparing the Qb board accordingly. @Brooklyndee do you see Baldwin from IMG becoming a possible target? Have we been in contact with him at all?

Thanks

Im not aware one way or the other right now. I havent been out to img since graduation. I have heard hes nice though. All that said ill just leave it at our qb recruiting is (shall we say) unpredictable...
