this reminds me of a fight, where an overmatched boxer does whatever he can to not get KO'd by a pound-for-pound elite guy. There whole goal is to just see the final bell and claim it as some sort of moral victory

Manny should be as straightforward as this game was. Even if we play an ugly game they will be entirely outmatched.

But I want an ACC champ and legit playoff run. That's not happening unless the defense stops allowing explosive plays. If they can just keep everything in front and make open field tackles this is a legit top 3 team.

You make a fair point. It is Duke and Manny Diaz. That shouldn’t be a milestone for Miami and Mario Cristobal.

we will roll duke next Saturday and then we'll be top 4-5 in the first college football ranking show which is what we all hoped for. great to be a miami hurricane
 
It’s very very difficult to run the table. At this point in the season I doubt everyone is 100%. The target is once again on their backs and teams bring their A game.
#5 in the country is great. It’s been a fabulous and exciting season so far. Are we back? I say no. With the ease of the portal early opt outs and decommitts it’s made it all more difficult to be competitive at a high level. We’re lucky to have Mario but with all those factors who knows what the canes will be next season.

Mack Brown and BYU know to have a good run game against Manny.

People forget that we were 12-13 the last two seasons, and have only won more than 10 games like 2-3 times within the last 20 years. We’ve been praying for a season like this, yet half this board is *****ing and moaning. Some of you are toddlers with no brain cells. The number 1 goal this season was to win the ACC championship, and we’re right in the drivers seat. When it comes to the playoffs, whatever happens happens. Just sit back and enjoy the ride

We are not normal fans. Normal people don’t spend hours arguing over football online with random strangers. So safe to say we all have strong opinions on football.

I am one of the Four Horsemen of the Mopeocalypse so I don’t always wear orange and green glasses. I’ll say this about the game, it was a textbook example of how to control a game when one team is substantially better than the other and the dominant team just wants a safe win. Don’t want to take chances pushing the ball downfield and giving them opportunities for turnovers, which is what can give them a chance for an upset. Good strategy against the likes of Duke or Wake. Nothing wrong with that gameplan. That said, when playing FSU, we would hope Miami would want to put on a show and thoroughly humiliate them. Right now I wouldn’t be surprised if their fans are saying "Miami is a much better team but we at least showed up to play and kept from being a total embarrassment” (We beat the spread but that final TD should not have happened). Again, I’m not taking away from the win, it was never in doubt.

As for the game itself, there were some issues that other teams may exploit if they don’t get fixed. Miami looked confused by the blitz. Duke blitzes a lot. The DBs got burnt a couple times. Not much can do there since it wasn’t addressed in the portal like it should have. WRs weren’t getting separation. FSU has good corners so don’t know what you can do about that, maybe go more to TEs. TEs didn’t get involved nearly enough. If I’m a top TE recruit Id wonder how it can be that UM has an unbelievable talent in Arroyo and he is barely involved, especially in a game like this where WRs are getting locked up. Would give me pause.

Lastly- back to defense, if I’m an OC and I see Miami putting Mauigoa 1 on 1 vs my X receiver, my eyes would get as big as saucers.
 
The disconnect is some people are looking at us as legit title contenders which we clearly aren’t. I’m ok with that. We’re very good, we’re fun, we’re relevant. This year has been huge. It is just frustrating to watch us not getting better on D. I think it will be a problem when we play actual good teams. Hopefully we can ride to the ACC championship unbeaten and from there, who knows. Would be nice to steal 1 game in post season play.
 
The only thing that matters is a W or L at the end of the day. We could run the table the rest of the year with 1 point games and I would not care at all. The “What If” game is a weird argument…especially after a win.

Also for the why didn’t we pass more crowd..the passing game wasn’t working and the run was..so we ran the ball..

The level of disrespect that entire stadium had for FSUs ability to compete was a bit weird in the moment, but is growing on me. I'm including their fans in that too.
