Michael Johnson Jr to Penn State

Cause he got dissed by us, if we offered we would of had him easily

Why would we have had him?

Got some talent at both places ahead of him. They have been a far better team in recent times and they don't look like they're going anywhere so we'll have to step up our game big-time. Beyond that, both schools are completely different.

I know one thing, I still have a ton of questions about this Richt led team. There are a lot of positives, but some negatives as well. I know if I had a kid, today, I would advise he wait to commit if he had an offer from Clemson and us. Richt needs to show it this year or QB recruiting could become a liability.

Who cares??? We'll be fine

Its not like he's the ONLY good QB out there

All kinds of ***** happens between now and NSD

Wake me up on National Signing Day

We'll be fine regardless....we already shown that we can win without having an All Star at QB

Wasted a lot of time and racked up a lot of frequent flyer miles for this kid.

We really need to stop wasting our time recruiting kids from across the country.
Brevin Jordan doesn't think recruiting across the country is a waste of time. It's a numbers game and we have to be ok with the L's that come with the Wins.

I’ve argued against not taking a qb before and I still hold that stance. I cannot get behind the idea of potentially only having 2 scholly qbs on the roster. And if Weldon (who I don’t think will win the job) thinks he is a QB1 talent, which I hope he has that confidence, and transfers then we are gonna be screwed. That, however, is the worst case scenario.

So Richt Jr didn't get it done? Of course he didn't...the dude should be coaching NAIA ball somewhere...not at the University of Miami.

Waste of a coaching spot. If he was some QB whisperer in terms of development then it’s okay if his recruiting is lack luster but he’s a glorified intern at this point.

I just don’t think we’re that far off from Clemson. All these teams have real playmakers at QB . Imagine if we had ****n Baker Mayfield on our team last year. Undefeated. We beating Clemson. **** even if we just swapped Rosier with Bryant I think that game is much different last year and we definitely don’t lose to Pitt.

FSU got a ring basically because they got Jameis Winston. They really weren’t that great of a team outside of him regardless of all the 4 an 5 Stars. That’s why Jimbo gone now, he couldn’t find another QB/ Francois got hurt.

I think Richt has done a great job on the field, in recruiting and off the field to get us where we need to be . All we need is one dog at QB...

Who recruited Perry and Williams then ? Two 4 stars .

He definitely ain’t developing sht tho but I feel like he’s recruited well up until now .

My 2 cents.

I don't mind that we missed out on MJJ. He's not a Justin Fields or a Jarren Williams.

He would've had to sit on the bench for the next 2-3 years and may have never seen a snap here. Probably the same situation at Penn State. He may be a guy that transfers.

My problem is the recruiting aspect. We put all our eggs in 1 basket and couldn't win out in his recruitment. On top of that, what else is Richt Jr. doing this recruiting cycle? Probably nothing and that's the problem that I have.

On top of that, I seriously question our evals. We offered Sitkowski when a majority of posters on this forum were questioning why this was going to be our QB for the last cycle. Months later, he finally realized that Sitkowski was not Miami caliber and luckily Jarren Williams fell into our laps.

From everything I've read and heard, Max is not the guy. In fact, it would be a yuuuge mistake to put all the eggs in the Max basket.

Kid has the tools. We will see if he takes the next step on the field this year as a junior. Miami is definitely looking at other kids in the 2020 class.

I agree we could replace him with an actual elite recruiter. We have to get better or well be mediocre Richtz entire time here

@Brooklyndee was definitely 100% correct. Though, we have to believe our staff really do not love Tai as a prospect and feel Jarren is the future. They probably felt MJJ was so different that it was worth a shot but if not we're fine in 2019 without getting a QB. I don't agree with the tactic but it seems like it has to be something similar to this. These guys aren't dumb, they know what they're doing and what their plan is. All the eggs in one basket was intentional and they were comfortable riding it like that.

“Insider” info: his conjugal visit to Sandusky was the deciding factor. Sandusky had a “stiff proposition” for him. MJJ said of Sandusky “he filled a void”.
THIS POST IS UNCALLED FOR!!! Everyone knows he is far too old for Sandusky.

Except its not 20 years ago.

South Florida actually produces good QBs now.
Name one for this cycle.
It is crazy to me why we would abandon most of the talent around the Country simply because we are in a crooting hotbed. ID the best fit for your program and if there is any mutual interest, recruit him no matter where the kid plays. Why limit our options?

Agree for the recruiting cycle it is a miss. But with the lack of overall talent I am not sure how much of a miss. The all eggs in one basket is troubling but if no one else is worth an egg, or we know they have no interest then why waste an egg. Still time for an under the radar kid to pop-up (unlikely) but I would be fine with looking at the transfer market. Even a grad transfer for next year. Have to think once Rosier grad, and one of the 3 remaining QB's is entrenched as the starter that someone will transfer from us, leaving us with 2 QB's, get a grad transfer who can bring some leadership, not hurt against a scholly spot, and be able to plug in a pinch and focus on '20.

Also, transfers happen a lot. Look at the clemson 5* who just transferred, the QB market is more abundant outside of HS than any other position.
