Michael Barrow leaving team

Why take it with a grain of salt though? If he was mad about D'No's defense, wouldn't he have been mad before now? If D'no or Golden wanted him gone wouldn't it have come before now? Seems like neither side has much to gain by waiting this long. Why not believe that it was family issues?

Besides, if they were going to make a change - it would have at the end of last season, not a month before the Louisville game.

I'm talking about Canesports credibility. There's no way Barrow was forced out over job performance. As you said, the timing wouldn't make sense.

I'm just saying the thing about his mom being sick has this far only been reported by them. That may or may not be the reason he left.

I've never heard of a coach leaving their job to take care of a sick family member. It doesn't mean it isn't true, isn't a knock on him for doing so, and somebody can probably pull up 2 or 3 examples to correct me. I've just never heard of it. I hope for the best for him and his family.

My gut says it has something to do with Fig and Blue.

Meaning he was distraught and quit over it or the admin wasn't happy and forced him out over it?

The latter. That's just a gut feeling though, no info.

Like Dan said, the family thing generally doesn't ring true. That doesn't mean family members don't get sick, but you don't see college coaches quitting over that. I remember when the former CEO of my company quit to take care of her ailing mother who was out of state.

She turned up at a rival company 2 months later.

That would be pretty messed up if the admin pushed him out.

By all accounts Barrow is a solid man. He wasn't responsible for what Figueroa and Blue did.

FWIW, in case people don't know D1 coaches probably average 80-100 hrs a week in season. Off season is a littles less. Could be possible he is just burnt out or family is a big concern.

I wish him the best in his next endeavor, true Cane

A lot of coaches move on every year. It's a tough business on families.

I love the dreamers here. There is no way that former NFL HCs are coming here to coach LBs or RBs. We may see someone do double duty for one year hoping that Ice passes his classes and then coaches RBs next year. Or, there may be an ex-cane RB that is willing to start his career here. But, bet the house Butch is not coming.

**** the BS, Barrow was a Cane and a great one at that.

Average position coach. Elite recruiter especially considering the cloud however severe you want to gauge. But all that put aside, great human being. A Hurricane to his bones and as good a person you will ever meet in your life. Thanks for all his service to the program as a player and coach and whatever he moves onto next I can only hope that he succeeds at the highest level. If his mother is truly ill, best wishes and prayers to both of them.

With that being said, I like DeMontie Cross, the LB coach at TCU, as a replacement that should be at the top of the list. His LB's can play some serious coverage and are well rounded even in a 4-2-5.

Urban lier did for his own health and his family any ways the man mother is dieing best of luck to him and her , him and his family are in my prayers

I know Barrow has been criticized by some, but IMO he's been very important to this program. He's a great local figure, legendary Cane, great NFL player, great recruiter, respected by most everyone and a religious person who can relate to many kids and their parents better than some of our other staff. Losing him would concern me.

Agreed. Maybe not a loss from strictly a coaching standpoint but his role here goes far far beyond that

The timing of this says nothing but baaaaaaaad things to me.

Not the worst timing. During playing or recruiting season would be worse.

Barrow's deeply religious....look what's gone on with our team last month or so. I'm sure he takes that stuff to heart.

Not buying this for a second. Frankly I can't believe people agree with this post. Im willing to bet him leaving had nothing tondo with the rape.
