Miami's defensive staff vs the competition (Recruiting).

Can’t believe I’m just now opening this thread.
I agree with the OP on everything except DeAndre Baker. Jaquan is without a doubt better than him, it’s not even close. The green coaches and lack of guys in NFL resume etc is 1000% spot on in comparison to the coaches on the trail we are going against on the trail.

BUT, you wasted your time starting this thread on this board. This is CIS. Banda might as well be Mark Stoops and you would think Simpson led the charge to the Falcons getting to the SB the way people bring up, “but he coached the Falcons!!!”.

The "Bag Game" is real and these SEC schools have the alumni base and organization to operate it at a higher level than most.

I don’t think the OP, nor anyone else is denying that the bag game is real. Everyone knows it’s real.
Some people just get tired of seeing that as an excuse literally every time we lose a kid. You must be one of those people that do that.

From what I heard, we slow play a lot of local studs, specifically DB's.
This comes from someone who trains these kids.

Im not taking sides here( and Macho is a guy I really respect here) but geez, that sounds a lot like the previous staff, doesn't it?

I'll see myself out now

This staff is missing a true recruiting giant. I mean Harley is the best then you got some good to above average recruiters. Rumph needs to go, Idgaf he needs to be replaced.

I think we’re a staff that can develop kids and get the most out of them that our previous staffs couldn’t do but they miss out on as many kids as Golden did and you have to ask yourself as a fan, do you want kids that can compete and get you to the coastal every year but that’s their ceiling or do you want kids to break that ceiling and become a true national contender? Because until we make changes to the staff we won’t be getting those national contender kids.

You realize rumphs position has brought in the most blue chips on the team right in the last 2 classes? If he’s so terrible then what does that make the others on the defensive side of the ball in recruiting?.... got to stop with this man, he ain’t the only one missing on talent...

not going to knock coley. he offered a kid i knew and wanted to offer another but golden veto'd it. golden was a control freak. Coley was very open to talk to about kids.

I got to know Coley a bit, I was a fan of his. But being under Golden I think hampered him, Im with you on this.

It’s diaz

OK, I wont argue this or that, again just stating that Macho's point( if it's valid and it might be) does mirror the previous staff

On the flipside and in defense of this current staff(which Im a fan of) if you look at this most recent class, I see a really good group of long, twitchy, fast, athletic guys on the back end that are going to give UM a real boost in athleticism and quickness - and guess what? - they will perhaps change the negative perception of this staff that some may have. I really think Miami has a chance to be an elite defense, yeah, this season believe or not

No, Richt and Co. havent batted 1.000 the past three recruiting season but guess what? Nobody does

However, going back to the Ahmonn, Shaq, Joe Jax, Pickney class of 2015, Miami has had classes where literally 10 guys have come right in and become contributors and I expect the same with the likes of our DB class and Hightower, Pope, Lingard, 'Korean Air' Jordan and Mallory. Yeah, I believe Miami is bringing in NFL/elite talent - the question is: does it match what the likes of Bama and Clemson are purchasing, uhhh I mean, recruiting.

IMO, we need to hit on a QB(perhaps Jarren Williams is that guy) because to me, that accelerates the whole process and a great Qb can cover up other defiencies

But yeah, Im a fan of this staff but I understand there are questions marks, too

Personally Imo clemson recruits at an elite level at 2-3 positions Dline for sure, qb and at receiver. Oline is solid too but everywhere else is not up to that standard. I’m very excited about the class we brought in .

Just when i see things like not prioritizing certain recruits like Asante Samuel (who Mike Rumph pushed for early on but Diaz didn’t want him), but when you lose out on jobe now you want to double back yet rumph ends up getting blamed for that. Same thing with Jaden Davis, rumph is pretty cool with his father opportunity was definitely there yet we didn’t prioritize recruiting him until like maybe June?

We haven't finished in the top 10 since 2006.

Georgia finished 2nd in 2017.

So no we don't have as much to sell as Georgia right now.

They will be here two more years before fans turn on them. I think they got us to that next step and the next hire has to be a fuqin savage maybe Urban lol.

People here saying Clemson doesnt recruit at an elite level. Dead *** I read that on here and i closed CIS for a week straight thinking I was in the matrix. Thought it was a glitch or some ****

Yall act like our staff is full of solidified dudes. LOL

Our staff is full of green a$$ coaches.
It is NOT crazy to believe that they occasionally get their a$$ handed to them on the recruiting trail. (without bags)

None...and I mean none of them...have a solid reputation or resume for developing players and/or recruiting.
Miss me with the Rumph talk, he ain't been in the game long enough.
Banda? Fvck no.
Simpson? Just came off the high school field.
Diaz? Nope. Although he seems very likeable. Probably a decent recruiter. Inventing the chain helps.

Look at that defensive staff! LMAO
You MF's really think that staff is hard to recruit against without bags?
Who the **** are these guys? Like really, look at the big picture. In the football world, who the **** are these coaches? Not a single one of them hold any clout in the coaching world. Other than Diaz, all of them are peons in the coaching world, and even Diaz is not a hot name.

I like them. But I'm a Miami fan.
We're not recruiting Miami fans.
I'm speaking on an outsider's perspective.

Winning would counteract this issue.
I dont get what people think is wrong with this post. Alot of miami fans wanted butch hired so he can go into living rooms and say I put 37 players from on team into the NFL.

"Hi my name is Ephram Banda and I have several former players who might get some playing time in the NFL next season."

"Hi my name is Kirby Smart and I'm a National Championship DC and have 942 players contributing in the NFL."

"Yeah well I developed Jaquan Johnson, and he's regarded as one of the top Safeties in the NCAA."

"I just competed for a National Championship last season."

Yeah...but aren’t you comparing a Head Coach to a Safeties Coach?
In that scenario wouldn’t the right comparison be between Kirby and Ritch?

No doubt everyone does but the difference is they lost out on Juedy and got Jeff Thomas. On defense we lost out on TC and got Bethel. Theres a difference
Yep. What matters are wins not losses. Offense wins lingard, jordan, mallory, pope, hightower, williams, scaife et al. Big time kids.

I’m matching them up to the top schools in the country. This resumes don’t match up, period. Then you throw in the head coach of some of the top schools and we have no chance. Our leader is on offense and it shows with our recruiting. Our defensive staff is a liability on the recruiting trail until more results are shown.
FACTS, and FSU is currently running circles around us in defensive recruiting. They’re about to land Tyler Davis soon

Bro the dudes on this board can't accept this. I've been saying this to no end. Every coach on defense may prove to be a good coach one day but hiring them were absolute head scratchers....seems like alot of on the job training outside of Diaz

We gave one of the most glorious and storied positions to Banda and he had no on the field coaching experience when hired....dudes here be like "put Banda on him"...the same Banda on social media riding around with a Camping World Bowl Trophy to show recruits. LOL...man it's crazy.

But...schools are without a doubt giving out bags against this staff though...that is real talk.
