****Miami vs. Drake GAME THREAD****

Everything just feels disjointed today.

The offense isn’t getting open looks because Drake is switching on all the screens and we aren’t taking advantage of the mismatches the switching on defense creates. And we aren’t switching at all and have been vulnerable to the lob.

I also think Coach L needs to use the fact that he doesn’t have stars but does have a deep bench and use full court defense much earlier and try to wear teams down.
The bench may be deep, and we have a taller squad, but neither were factors today. Got killed on the boards (only 5 Offensive Rebounds in the entire game) and only got very average production from the bench.

We made 4 more threes than they did and still got beaten soundly. Johnson and Kidd were worse than bad.

I could be wrong but I think he was less highly regarded than Kidd and Johnson when signed. Hopefully, he's more physical.
He might not be as good but he is 6 9 and hopefully can grab a rebound. Losing Norchad hurts

i think coach L could find a way to make this a decent team but our ceiling just isn’t gonna be high unless someone becomes a guy who can create

We still haven’t replaced wong driving ability, pack played well off that but if he is gonna be the focal point and have a heavy dose of PnRs? Nothing consistent is coming out of that

It was a small sample size but i want to see blackmon get more touches, i think he is the guy who has a chance to create something consistent or at least better than pack as a lone lead guard.

That can put pack off more, he is playing a role too high imo if we can get him on the move off ball more maybe him as a shooting threat can create some looks for us

Still time left so ill be patient but just not being ready to play and getting punked is a bad early sign

He had 24 and 10.

I laughed at the Norchad -Kidd trade in the offseason. I know it wasn't technically a trade, but we basically lost Norchad because we wouldn't pay up, and we grabbed Kidd to replace.

Ouch
Ouch is right. Baylor (must have a lot of Texas oil money) got Norchad from us, Roach from Duke, and had enough left to sign Edgecombe.

Agree with all these points. Pack is a great shooter but not a lead guard. Jalen is a gray shooter but not a lead guard, though a little better off the dribble than Pack. But ideally both would be able to spot up and have a true lead guard break down the defense.

Coach L needs to push one of the young guys to take on this responsibility or we will continue to struggle to get open looks for 2 really good shooters.

I’s going to reserve judgment as to what Matt Cleveland actually provides but I’m not convinced it is much.

Who knows on Norchad. We could have been expecting some of his NIL to go towards the Boozers.

If true, we lost out not only on the twins but on Omier.

It feels like Divine might be able to be a lead guard. Everybody has been talking about how smart he is and about how good his decision making is.
