****Miami vs. Arkansas GAME THREAD****

This team is so confusing. We start the season looking promising, suddenly don't have a pulse against below average teams, and now we might have a chance to beat Arkansas (still early I know, but I didn't expect it to be this close ever).

34-27 at the last media ti\meout of the 1st half. Cleveland looks like a different player early on. Very energized and impressive on both ends!

Love what I'm seeing. Our guys are in attack mode. Hard to be the bully when you're constantly on your heels. Not settling for the first open 3. Looking to attack the basket. LFGOOOOO!!!!

NEWS: Miami leads the Arkansas Razorbacks at halftime 40-32, could we be seeing an upset on our hands? Nijel Pack leads the Canes in scoring with 12

Here are some of my first-half thoughts from the game so far from the Miami Hurricanes

* I still think we have a lot of threes without getting a paint touch, but it seems to be working right now, and that is one of the reasons why we are up right now.

* Miami is controlling the tempo against Arkansas they are going to try to outscore you, so controlling the tempo in the first half for the Canes is great.

* Nijel Pack looked clean and nice out there on the floor after a lower-body injury

* Miami is still having problems in the paint on defense by giving up a pass in the middle; Arkansas is missing a lot of shots today, but I would still pressure the guard and Theiro very tight cause they could shoot the lights out whenever.

Arkansas 5 wins are Lipscomb, Troy, Pacific, Little Rock and Maryland Eastern, and they lost to Baylor and Illinois, no reason to lose this game. Except, do not recall Larranaga ever beating Calipari.

Great response by Miami after Arkansas' quick 6-0 run to start the 2nd half.

One thing that's really standing out in this game is how well Miami is defending. They're active and engaged, playing with a lot of energy. Doing a much better job on the boards. Hope it continues.

Weak foul call there. Swartz forced him baseline and dude just threw himself into the defender, ref anticipated a call, although the player had no where to go based on the defensive positioning. That should be a no call. You shouldn't be rewarded extra because you forced up a contested shot on a great defensive possession.

Kidd is solid when he catches the ball on the low blocks. Has good touch around the rim and is an above average passer out of the double teams. When he was to put the ball on the floor, good things rarely happen. Also, defensively he doing too much standing around. Case in point, that last basket by Arkansas. He has to drop and contest. Trust that the weakside help will pick up his man. Can't let guys continue to get uncontested shots in the paint.

really nice 1st half to watch. 2nd half highlights we just can’t score the rock consistently and it will kill us all year.

Seems like the team who defends and takes care of the ball best will win this game. A tale of two halves indeed.
