Because that's where they started in the preseason polls. Unless you have a victory over a team ranked much higher, or a loss to a much lower rated opponent, your preseason ranking is the biggest factor in your current ranking.

I expect this will change real soon, as the media heads were deeply inhaling Winston's jock after the Maryland massacre. Teddy will fade to a back seat more so, as the schedule thing sinks in deeper each week.
