Miami/Syracuse 1992

He played TE and special teams I believe. I know special teams for sure because he got "beat" by David Palmer in the Bama game trying to cover the punt. I'm pretty sure I was at the VT game when he received some TE time. I could be wrong though.

I recall he wore 84 as a redshirt freshman(never played) and then was 76 by his RS frosh year as a DT

I was at this game, last game I got to attend with my grandfather (UM alum) who is the entire reason I bleed orange and green. He passed away the following March.

Incredible memories, that place was insanely loud. First time I had ever had a beer thrown at me (or at least in my general direction) by an opposing fan LOL. I was thirteen so I had never experienced an environment like that before.

I remember **** McPherson the long-time Cuse coach had a great respect for Miami. When Miami went up there in 92 as the #1 team and defending national titlist, they were hyping that up as the biggest game in Carrier Dome history...

Idk why man but kids back then just seemed older

They were grown *** men
It's shocking when you look back at "The Bermuda Triangle" LB Corps we had 32 years ago and realize that we haven't seen anything close to that in over 3 decades. Vilma, DJ Williams and Jon Beason are the exceptions but even Beason was close to 20 years ago.

I was at the ‘92 Canes / Syracuse game. My second ever UM game (first was Wide Right 2 earlier in the year…).

Still remember watching LT, Copeland, Kevin Williams and everyone warming up and thinking we’d see the offensive fireworks. But it was a true defensive battle that Cuse almost stole at the end.

Was just happy to get the W in the end of it

That’s the dirty little secret of the Gino Toretta era. Against lesser teams, the offense rolled. But against the really good teams on the schedule, it was all about the defense. The offense just barely did enough to get by in those games.

as Erickson's recruiting took over, and teams began to catch up to his one-back spread, that offense wasn't nearly as good starting in 1992 vs the good teams

They had under less than 100 yards passing vs Penn State that year -- and Gino still somehow won the Heisman

When I was in high school in 87/88 I kinda liked McPherson because he would give Pedo State fits and beat them several times with Don McPherson, his tan son.

couple things here. Good game. Syr had a good team.

That LB trio for Miami, you will never see a better one. All great.

You can see of course 32 years later hindsight being 20/20 how the team was going to struggle vs Bama in that Sugar Bowl. Especially that O line. Of course me being a 17 year old homer fan thought we were going to destroy Bama.

In fact, I know this is blasphemy and I'll prob take some heat for this. But I dont know if we would have beaten Washington in '91 if Miami met them in a bowl game.

I think we win this Saturday 38-20
Imo, if Miami had played Washington in 1991, the score would have ended up being something like 10-6. Scoring would have been a real struggle on both sides.
