I'm not even saying that I agree with it, but what the HISTORICAL criticism has been goes like this - once a kid CHOOSES Miami, he stays the same, or drops, in the rankings. Kids who pick Alabama or other SEC schools, once they CHOOSE, will go UP in the rankings.

So keep yammering on about camps and whatnot, you are clueless as to what people have complained about for 20 years.

And as further proof that you are clueless, go to the point about Knighton/Williams going UP in the rankings after NOT participating in camps, and Walker going DOWN in the rankings after doing well in camps.

Stop acting as if camps determine these rankings. We all know that certain writers from certain websites lobby the **** out of 247 to "bump" their particular recruits up in the rankings.

So no kid ever whos chose Miami has ever raised in there ranking? ever of all time has it ever happened? I dont remember who raises after commits so I wouldnt know but if someone here can prove that then they and u have a point.

This is one thing thats hard for me to believe bruh, its real hard for me to believe. I get these so called experts arent the end all be all of prospects but usually the number 1 player is the number one player doesnt matter what school they go to. Clowney would of been ranked 1 no matter if he was from Indonesia or if he was coming here. **** DJ Williams was 1 regardless

I get that Brevin isn't going to be a 1st round pick. I don't think he's got the size or elite speed. However, it was impossible to know that 3 years ago. Brevin would've been bumped if he went elsewhere and I'm sticking to it. He was the number 1 TE on some sites.

The number 1 TE on Rivals went to Georgia, and he didn’t get a 5th star either. Not sure how much more clear it can be. Maybe our kids get underrated. Brevin wasn’t a compelling example of that.

5 star should be special players that have a high chance at being a first rounder

He was a four star because he had elite measeruables for a QB and looked great in camps. When the lights came on he sucked, and the rankings reflected that.

I disagree he looked great. His form and throwing motion looked awkward. Long slimg. Powerful arm but not quick release, and not fluid motion. IMO he got rated based on punt pass and kick metrics. Tall, looked the past, strong arm, could run. But on film, I do not think he looked good, even in camps. IMO.

It is true that all else being equal, a kid committed to Miami who isn’t in play for other programs will get somewhat underrated, particularly at the top end of the rankings. There is an obvious reason for this. The various regional guys have to fight over who gets the top spots. Their bread is buttered by bigger fan bases. There is no reason for them to fight for a kid committed to UM. Why bother.

That said, Pope was a 5*. So was Lingard. And they were relatively early commits. They had the measurables, proved it on the camp circuit, and Richt commanded respect. That last point is lost in this discussion. When a coach had cred, his kids get more benefit of the doubt. Manny isn’t proven yet as an evaluator or recruiter. That plays in here too. [More reason to dismiss the Jordan shoulda been a 5* theory - we got two 5* kids in that very class.]

5* kids are ultimately kids Alabama would like to sign. Kids the top recruiting schools all want. OSU, UGA, Clemson. Kids who are generally prototypes, high ceilings, NFL futures.

None of this should matter to us. If we evaluate well, we will be fine. If we win, and start sending more kids in the top 2 rounds of the draft, our kids will get rated higher. Ater 17 years of mediocrity, we should not be whining about Rivals.

You are wrong. You are. Go read THE ENTIRE Gaytor Tears thread. The UF writers/moderators CONSTANTLY lobby Rivals and 247 to "bump up" the Gaytor recruits. We have screen shots.

Nobody is saying that IN TWENTY YEARS not one single solitary UM COMMIT has EVER gone up. A few have. What people are ACCURATELY arguing is that Miami COMMITS, kids who choose Miami well before National Signing Day, tend to get bumped downward.

Now, you can go and svck Wilfong's dong and claim that "nobody is biased against Miami" and that Wiltfong is "only giving bumps to 10 other kids", but the outcome is the same. SEC writers/moderators lobby Wiltfong to "bump up" their recruits, and Miami writers/moderators do not do the same thing, thus our COMMITS are constantly leap-frogged by SEC recruits.

It's been happening for 20 years. People have been observing it for 20 years. Yet you come here to tell us that our eyes and our memories deceive us.

I forgot what the site was called I will bullshyt u not the main sites or magazines then didnt have him as a five star but most people knew he was elite. I forgot the site man fuq I used to use it and brought it up a few time early in this sites cycle. If u scroll up at what ethnicsands is saying thats pretty much how I look at it virtually me and him have the same thought process. None of us have official proof on what these sites go by but Im sure coaching pedigree has alot to do with it or its one of the numerous things that have to do with it.

So Pope's a clear 5 star and not Brevin? You guys crack me up. Pope was a 170lbs soaking wet. What stood out to me was the AA game. He had multiple chances to shine and did nada. He got beat on 50/50 balls by an Oky commit that wasn't a take for UM. Pope didn't explode on the scene like Coley or Richards as a frosh. He was rated higher than them both. Pope was beat out by Lawrence Cager and Dee Wiggins. Pope's got a TON to prove.

It’s about the size of the fan bases that pay for subscriptions. UM’s fan base that would pay for football board subscriptions is nowhere near the size of the big public schools. They want to make the people that pay the bills happy. It’s certainly politics.

This is it. At the end of the day rivals and 247 are in the business of making money. They want the large subscription bases logging in checking where their guys are ranked and looking at all those shiny stars.

Every time Ive seen a Miami player get a major bump, they counter it by dropping the rest of the class. Lol When Duke was finally given his 5th on the very last update a bunch of our other guys dropped.

Listen I understand why some of the top recruits are not choosing our school, but I do know that the ranking system just like the ncaa is against us. It’s going to take some serious commitment by the school to turn things around on both fronts
