Miami is firing DC Lance Guidry

I would take a swing at Glenn Schumann. Kirby and Muschamp get a lot of the credit for the defense and he doesn't seem to be getting offers for good P4 programs like he probably thought. Especially after what Lanning has done.

Sell him on having that side of the ball all to himself and earning all the credit for the success. Oh and bring over Aguero as well
With our luck he’d be gattis 2.0

You didn't watch those games.

Sorry a blowout against 3-9 Ball State doesn’t move the needle. FAMU had several drives that were sneak peaks into how bad the defense was. USF had something like their 3rd or 4th highest ypg against us and look at their schedule. That game also started highlighting the defensive struggles. It turns out, talent won out, but you can’t watch USF and FAMU in retrospect now and not see the signs. UFs offense just stinks, but right out of the gate you saw blown assignments and chunk plays.

This is all hindsight perspective. Early in the season I did think they were playing ok but if you rewatch and then compare to the late season you saw the scouting blueprint unfolding. Once we hit closer to equal talent levels they were getting their door blown off.

Just give me a competent, hard nosed DC that doesn’t have this defense looking like my tee league baseball team

Pulease.

I'm shocked Pat Fitzgerald is in consideration given what transpired at Northwestern under his watch. If he knew about the hazing and didn't do anything, then his judgment is faulty. If he didn't know about the hazing, that seems like too big a blind spot to overlook for the DC role.

Not only could Stevie Wonder see this coming but I think the last 4 games he could have called better defenses and I don't know if Stevie Wonder knows anything about football or if he is actually still alive.

If they wanted to do the Jason Taylor experience they should have fired Guidry during the season and then given JT a chance, but what exactly has JT done with the dline this season??? Not sure I have seen Rueben Bain do anything this year of note and I think I saw the entire dline go backwards since game 1.

Just needed a competent defense this season to still be playing in the playoff and instead we found the one way to blow the best season a qb has ever had in orange and green. If Mario is going to embrace this CEO Head Coach role that's great but you are then only judged on on how your direct reports perform. A year ago we were up in arms over Dawson's performance, the cure was get the best QB football. Now Guidry laid the biggest egg on defense since the patty-cake defense of D'onofrio, as Al Golden destroyed our team sitting idly by watching that disaster. Even Al Golden has learned since then and is considered a defensive genius by some, so when is the light going on in Mario's head?

Simple job description for the head coach of UM needs to be provided to Mario, with goals and objectives and a plan developed to achieve it. 1) Fire Guidry, that is in reaction to the debacle we all witnessed this season when we did nothing to stop the train wreck we all saw coming. Mario, you don't get credit for putting out a fire you started, but OK, step 1 done. 2) You need a QB because the park statue you played the 2nd half with at the Pop Tarts Bowl (its embarrassing every time I say it!) can't get the job done, unless the job is to throw the ball into the arms of the defensive line, WHICH IT IS NOT! Where does this QB come from, perhaps the Georgia High School champ Luke Nickel, but you better find someone and the music stopped already and the game of musical chairs finds you with no seat.

Season ticket decisions are being made now, and until there is something to look forward to I have a boat that does not get used enough as is and Saturdays are better spent on the water rather than me sitting there screaming in the stands "why is no one covering that receiver???!!!"

Should expect a lot of interest in the job. Everyone saw it, Miami was just a defense away from winning the whole thing this year, yeah we are replacing some guys on offense but we also have talent to replace them. Fix the defense and get qb and business is booming

You and I, we know what or who the problem happens to be. However, we will be called haters!
It is what is brother. I'll die on the hill for the program. My loyalty is to the U, not one man and his politics and his Columbus High School cartel who is bankrolling his incompetence. Him and Manny are the same in my eyes. One used his rich friends from high school to get him the job. The other used his former mayor daddy to get it for him. I'm tired of these "Miami guys" treating this program like some status symbol. They all suck!
