Miami Hurricanes Camp Depth Chart

I'm gonna leave my faith in the coaches to bring more out of these guys than we got last year. There we many games I saw guys just slightly out of position but slightly enough to lead to a blown play for big gains and third down conversions. While editing all of the games, I saw countless times where our guys took on a blocker from the wrong shoulder allowing the OL to turn them and open up a lane. Basically lots of coach-able mistakes which can be fixed. Will these defensive guys have a drastic change over last years performance. Probably not, but they can have a moderate to good change in performance and that slight improvement is the difference between 4 losses and a 3-1 split. As unwatchable as our defense was last year, besides the ND and KSU game, it came down to a handful of 3 to 4 plays which gave the game away. I think the coaches will get the little things corrected and we will see marked improvement out of the DL and LB. We do not have to win pretty this year, just ******' WIN. I'm gonna start this season, glass half full instead of that tone that I'm getting from reaction to the depth chart.

That is exactly what I was thinking! Nothing is granted....everything must be earned, every year. I like it and I don't doubt for a second by the end of camp, he will have that spot locked down again. There is also so much rotation, it hardly matters, I think he will get the lion share of snaps regardless of if he starts or not.
SMH at Henderson not being listed as the starter, I don't get it.

Seems like golden always has to keep a spark under Henderson.

We were in the ND game......for a half. If we played the second half like the first we could have won. They weren't that good last year. Look at their wins. They struggled against a lot of sub-par teams that Miami would have destroyed. KSU was the only game in which Miami was whipped from kickoff to final whistle.

I wholeheartedly agree about being out of position. I watched every snap on defense of each game about a month ago.
Here is one thing to take note of. The defense is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be and you heard it from motorcitycane first.

Here are some facts about the d Both good and bad.
Good
1. Miami runs well to the football.
2. Miami forced turnovers.
3. Young players grabbed some experience.

Bad
1. The youth weren't ready yet. If the guys that went to the league had stayed the D would have been top 25 again just like 2011 when the D was ranked #22
2. Miami had guys that didn't know where they were supposed to be.
3. Miami averaged 13+ missed tackles a game. (I had to endure the pain of counting)
4. Miami didn't get set fast enough. Other teams were snapping the ball and the D lineman are still running to their position. (THIS HAS TO STOP)

I have to say we, as fans, do a lot of over-reacting to both wins and losses. We think we are on top of the world when winning and everyone has to be fired when losing that's just our nature. Sure the depth chart lacks a little bit. But you never know who will step up. Every team from HS to the NFL has guys who come from out the woodwork's and solidifies themselves as solid contributors or players. Someone that everyone is doubting right now will step up this season. I'm not talking guys like Pierre who everyone expects to step up. I'm talking guys that everyone has given up on. Some guys don't "get it" until their junior and sometimes senior seasons.

With that being said this Defense will crack top 50.

That purported depth chart at DE is exactly why I've said Gilbert is, by far, the most important addition to the team this year.

I can't remember which game it was but it was 3rd and like 15 around midfield and Telemaque committed a blatant pass interference penalty on like an 8-10 yard completion. That was the point when I realized our problems were more than just youth on defense.
Our defense last year was like my golf game: 3 good shots plus one horrible mistake means 18 holes of bogey golf.

Maybe he's just not THAT good.

As fans, we find that hard to believe but maybe that's the case. The dude hasn't truly LOCKED DOWN a spot since he's been here.

All anybody knows is that he's 6'8" and was a 5 star. If he's not cemented by now then maybe, just maybe, he's not that good.

Excellent post except you overlooked the addition of Gilbert, Derosier & AQM.
