Of note to me:
1) the turn around LRob has made. Staff stuck with him and kid in turn matured. His emergence is a big deal to the Dline. Staff is rewarding him this "or" and at the same time pushing porter.
2) AJ over RJ. The staff is all but begging for that "starter consistency" from RJ. Physically and athletically gives you so much more on the field and to that position then AJ. AJ, G-d bless his dad and the fam's love for the school, but kid handicap's us back there. Smart kid, but physically limited. For our D to take the next step I truly hope RJ takes the job by week 3 of camp.
3) as stated depth at LB is truly scary and disappointing for a big program. Could not foresee the departures.
4) De is far from ideal. But the addition of David Gilbert playing on 3rd/passing downs can help immensely. Last year we could not get off the field on 3rd and long cause simply no one forces the timing or the qb to step up. Having ONE guy rush and create a concern will in turn help and make the DTs that much better. It dominoes from there. May/could be the biggest pull of the off season.
