At one point in a game Cam just stopped trying to scramble for a few seconds because there was NO pressure at all. I bet Beck has never had that.

I saw Cam just stand in the pocket moonwalking. Twice ! No pressure and in no hurry. Never seen a quarterback so relaxed in the pocket.

Tom Brady is literally the only other guy I have ever seen in such complete control. It’s why I have a hard time seeing Cam fail in the NFL. He has unnatural poise.

That's not entirely true.

They only ask my opinion on things like this to reaffirm what they already feel.

If I don't like a hire or a player, they have zero interests in what I say or think.

Trust me, as soon I say something they don't like or agree with, no matter how true it is, they'll grab the closest brick they can find to throw it through my window.

I can only speak for myself, but as a long time reader of your posts (when you were LCE), your knowledge/analysis of the game and players is much better than mine and I can safely say your opinion has changed mine on multiple occasions. Keep it up brother!

And here we go. Everyone’s gonna cry about his relative lack of inexperience in terms of number of years. Minnesota had an excellent defense under his direction. PJ Fleck certainly had a little to do with it. I think he’s an offensive coach. Maybe I’m wrong.

The Miami Hurricanes have their defensive coordinator. Minnesota defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman will be taking the same position with the Canes.

In games against FBS opponents, Minnesota finished 10th nationally in scoring defense (18.3 PPG), 14th in yards per play (4.7) and 19th in yards per pass attempt against (6.3).

Like Mario Cristobal, the 44-year-old Hetherman comes from the Greg Schiano coaching tree, having coached linebackers at Rutgers from 2022-23.

Hetherman had tremendous success at the FCS level. In 2021, he was named AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year after coordinating James Madison's No. 2-ranked defense in the nation. He also served as Maine's defensive coordinator from 2016-18, leading the FCS in rushing defense, interceptions and fumble recoveries in his final season.

Hetherman is a Massachusetts native who played quarterback at Fichburg State from 2003-06.

No, it's not disingenuous.

Nobody is suggesting, and the internet can immediately fact-check, that this guy coached with Schiano for a decade. He didn't.

But a coaching tree is everyone that you coach with, because it turns into references and recommendations for future jobs.

As I have pointed out previously, before Dawson starts his THIRD year at UM, Mario had only had ONE coordinator, in his entire career, that stayed with him longer than 2 years. Does that mean Mario doesn't have a coaching tree, because somehow 2 years is too short to qualify?

The fact remains, he worked with Schiano (a former DC) for 2 years and would have become the Rutgers DC if Harasymiak would have landed a head coaching job sooner.

Everybody relax. I've already pointed out how Hetherman's career arc has accelerated over the past 5 or 6 years, much greater than it had for the prior 10+ years.

For the record, I'm thrilled about the hire & think he's a great DC & defensive mind, which is why he was really one of the only DC's I mentioned/wanted.

But my point overall, is none of that sh*t really matters to this fanbase.

Iowa had their average output per game and Rutgers was held under their average output per game

These are good points/rebuttal. But there's a caveat here that people should note. I watched these games. Did Minnesota's D make mistakes? Absolutely, but they're not the reason they lost those games. Minnesota's O was atrocious this year and couldn't get anything going in either of those games. Defense kept them in it, but at some point you're gonna have breakdowns.

I don't think this is a bad hire, but I would've preferred a more established DC. TBD on him.
