These dudes spent years crying about Baker, Patke and Banda and now they want the new DC to bring in his Baker, Patke and Banda.
They're bringing in guys close to Schiano, I presume. Connection is obvious.

In all fairness why should we assume they will be like Baker, Patke and Banda???... And.... Banda and Baker turned out fine once out from being under Manny.... I have 0 clue what happened to Patke.... 2 outa 3 ain't bad... Lol

I admittedly know nothing about him, but this is a guy with one year calling plays, three years in p4 period, and no head coaching experience. This is not an adult in the room and is an extremely risky move. Hopefully it works out.
This is something to consider. He's young so he'll be willing to work 24/7 365 on the Mario time clock. He's also young and will bow down which Mario wants.

Fleck (while not doing so himself like Mario) likes his AC's to desk guard as well, so he's used to it.

OSU has two former HC's at OC/DC
ND has Denbrock (exp) and a former HC at DC
Texas has Pete (exp) and Flood (former HC)
PSU has Tom Allen (former HC) as DC
UGA has Bobo at OC (former HC) and Muschamp as analyst
Oregon went younger with Tosh and Stein

Miami has Dawson and this guy.

Uh oh…I just got a face palm from a #1 Guidry guy. Let’s see where we are this time next year. Hope he isn’t face palming again like when people doubted him with Guidry.

Yes you, dclewis50…you ******* Monty Kiffin you.
Why come to a football message board looking for an argument from a total stranger? Weird behavior. Smh

Minnesota’s defensive staff was comprised of 4 on the field coaches last year.
Heatherman: DC/ LB
Monroe: Co-DC/ CB
Collins: PGC/ S
DeLattiboudere: DL

For reference we had 5 last year: Guidry, Jackson, Nicholson, Taylor, Salavea. Is there a chance that under Heathermen we shrink the on the field staff to four, and add an on the field full time Special Teams coach?
Analysts can now provide instruction and can have a headset on gameday so the special teams on field infatuation can come to an end. It makes no difference. The only benefit of being one of the 10 “on field” assistants is the ability to travel to recruit. That shouldn’t be wasted on a special teams guy.

It’s as simple as Danny Kalter isn’t a very a good special teams analyst and shouldn’t be running the show. Doesn’t matter than he’s on or off field

better hire than Banks imo

(please don’t let this be bump material a year from now)
Just out of curiosity because I would like your opinion on this. Why do you think he’s a better higher than banks? What do you see in this guy that gives him the edge over banks?

Hard to tell how good a guy is when he only stays in a job 1-2 years and then he’s gone. He’s all over the place. We’ll see I guess

He has a familiar work ethic and pedigree from Schiano, objectively succeeds everywhere he goes and his product passes the eye test on the field. We're likely his last stop before head coach and being courted by Minnesota or Rutgers when Fleck or Schiano move on.

I think only 11 (the head coach and 10 assistants) can have headsets on game day. I thought that was the reason Big Joe never had a headset on game days, so the ST guy could use it.

Patke is Manny’s DC at Duke. They’ve all had some success. But that wasn’t my point. The same people who *****ed about Manny bringing “his boys” along now want the new DC to bring “his boys” along. Meanwhile most DCs don’t get the opportunity to bring their staffs with them when they take a new position.
