What was the preseason thread regarding records and must win games in order for people to be satisfied with a mediocre season? I think everyone picked an FSU win. That said, a hypo here - we beat FSU and lose out the remainder of the season, How satisfied would yall be?

The big positive for FSU is they took Travis as a flyer at QB, he was awful, but they took time, and he has been in the same offense for 4 years now. He finally in 2022 played well.

If he gets injured they are done.

That's the big reason they are so good offensively. Coleman was the Cherry on top this off-season.

But make no mistake, Travis makes the whole thing go.

Ima disagree on that.. We dont rotate enough for him to even make an impact, we havent sent Harrell on one go route ALL SEASON.. Brashard stand on sideline majority of game.. Dawson talk about he ran a slot fade for him and it was close but didnt hit against NCST when asked why they havent gotten him the ball.. ONE. SLOT. FADE. is their idea of getting Barshard involved.. The offense is stale if you cant get your guy the ball..

Whatever he doing, he wouldnt do down here because he would be on bench.

AND IM ALL FOR MORE BRASHARD TOUCHES IN ANYWAY SINCE LAST YEAR.

KID DESERVES A MINIMUM OF 1 MOTION SWEEP A GAME...AND 4 CARRIES A GAME OUTSIDE OF THE PASS GAME.

I have no clue how many times it has to be said....FLORIDA ....AND SOUTH FLORIDA kids are FRONT RUNNERS...you just need to WIN and the recruits will come.

You dont have to be mario texting grandma and kids 500 times a day, Norvell is a cornball and not half of the recruiter as Mario but he will have a good class because of the portal use and winning and the sh*t may be on cruis control for 2 cycles for them atleast based off just that winning szn last year and what they are doing right now.

FSU Nil is probably top 8 in the country THIS year. We were similar last year. This year we’re probably top 15… classes will play out accordingly.

It’s not even remotely close. So far whiffed on (or haven’t impacted the team like we hoped/were hyped up on evals) on Terry Roberts, Moultrie, Caleb Johnson, Thomas Gore, Lichtenstein, Davonte Brown, Harrell, Ladson, Denis, Sagapolu, etc.

No impact from Richard, Campbell, Mesidor can’t stay healthy, McCormack sucks, Agude was bleh, Parrish is average, Allen is decent but not elite, Jaden Davis gets torched when he covers real WRs, etc.

Hardly any real difference makers. I mean guys, that’s a lot of whiffs/players with no real instant-impact. And people think we’re going to dominate the portal in ‘24 lol.

Our best acquisitions are DPJ, two interior OL, Kiko and I guess Cloyd. That’s not winning you 9 or 10 games.

We had a good laugh with Jackson St.

Mario gave us GT and a whole lot of losing so far. Mario walked into a better situation from Manny vs Norvell walking into Taggert, who went a class or 2 without recruiting a QB which (not even a 2 star) which led to Travis transferring from Louisville.

Not to mention that Norvell is a better head coach, better offensive coordinator compared to what we have here now.

So when we had the advantage we didn’t do **** with it.

So now what? They have advantage and keep increasing it while we remain status quo or get worse?

Perfect! Just perfect! It makes sense.

I said winning 2 of the 3 vs Clemson, FSU, TAMU, but that loss to GT erased one of those good wins for me and if he keeps putting Tyler out there then he wont win another game.

Gotcha. I don't think Mario puts as much stock into the portal as he does HS recruiting. And it's the reason I've said on this board probably 100 times over the past year that FSU is going to be a fascinating case study on how to build a roster in the portal era. Something like 15 of their 22 starters are portal kids. Many are one year rentals. They're obviously having a good year. But are they building a sustainable program? Are they going to be good year after year with this model? Up to this point, the only way to build a sustainable program was to recruit at an elite level. Period. With the portal, there's a chance that might not be entirely true. But when Wilson and Verse and Benson and Coleman and Cypress and Fiske and Bell leave FSU after this year, and they replace them with kids they recruited in their classes that ranked in the 20's, will they be a Top 5 team year after year? We'll see.

We signed a top 7-8 class. Have a starting freshman rt and a bonafide star in Bain. Our seasons on a similar trajectory to where I thought we would be. The way we are losing is what effing sucks. Bad coaching and qb play, but we can see the talent this frost class has…

Fsu is losing a bunch of big ticket guys which is why they’re paying up so much for this class.

Like @gogeta4 said, kids are front runners here in FL.

They will go to a winner (HS recruits that is) and if they don’t pan out, Norvell will find a transfer to take the spot. The ultimate in competition. Let the young kids develop and if they are good enough to take that spot, you are Gucci.

They can coexist with each other.

It doesn’t have to be an either HS recruiting or Portal recruiting route.
