Jim is a good guy who was a great HC 10 years ago. He's done more for the program than any coach this side of Leonard Hamilton. As it stands, we are going to be 3 years removed from a tourney appearance after making 3 in a row.

The whole FBI thing with Dewan should have been a one season blip at worst but we were still hearing excuses from Larranaga this time last year before the pandemic ended what would have been yet another losing season. With that said, the current roster has 8 players who were consensus 4 or 5 star recruits coming out of high school coupled with two players (Brooks, Olaniyi) who were contributors in other conferences.

Injuries are part of the game but it's excuse after excuse and poor evaluation after poor evaluation, not to mention horrific roster construction, and I haven't even gotten to the coaching staff part. Recruits are barely old enough to remember the 2012 team that won the ACC. Fans weren't coming to games before and certainly won't be showing up in the winter once they can start trickling back into the arena if there isn't a major shakeup made.

What I think a lot of your are underestimating is that Blake didn't hire Coach L in the first place and is a ticket salesman at heart. It's impossible not to see that there is ZERO juice left in the program and this upcoming postseason presents an opportunity to inject life back in what is now a close to dormant program. He's undoubtedly feeling pressure for his total body of work so don't think he'll pass up an opportunity to make a potential splash.

It's inexcusable to have nobody who can shoot threes reliably nor enough big men to fill out an ACC roster.

Just finished watching. That was awful and unacceptable. Bad luck or not (and we’ve certainly had it), we’re at the point where Jim needs to bring overhaul his staff if he wants to continue beyond this season.

I can’t believe L has the nerve to blame injuries. Like deng Gak would’ve helped us tonight. Or Sam. Or miller.

Sure, Lykes and mcgusty being out really hurts when you’re playing a UNC or even a VT, but this was a 2-9 BC team missing 3 or 4 guys of their own. This isn’t an upper echelon team that just ran us off the court. This was a bottom of the barrel team. There’s absolutely no excuse for what we witnessed tonight. If this was the football program, people would want L’s head on a swivel at this point. It’s been 4 seasons straight of pure garbage with excuse after excuse. But sadly, no one (including the UM administration) seems to care about Canes basketball.

I'm sure Coach L is a good technical coach. Whether he's burned out or over the hill is certainly debatable. However, as Consigliere and others have frequently said, I think not filling all the scholarships is unconscionable, and especially has a telling impact on fielding 2 teams for intra-squad practice games. How many times (after an injury or 2) do we hear the staff say well, we can't have a full practice - not enough guys...

...being in the wrong spot, playing hero-ball over passing and assists, and several things that seem to take a losing toll - would handily benefit from abundant full squad practice games. If this roster management trend doesn't turn around fast, I'm aboard the ByeBye Express.
Surely doesn’t look like we’ll have a full squad next season either. We can’t sign a big man

Doesn’t matter how many big men we sign anyway, we can’t develop them. Tonye was the last post player who actually got better and after 4 years was still average with a very limited offensive game.

No one is going to show up next year once they start letting fans back into the arena. Trust me, Blake cares about dollars and cents.

Nobody allows 18 threes without playing poor perimeter defense.
They made some ridiculous "heat check" shots later in the game that were pretty well contested, but that was after we let them get into a rhythm with a ton of wide open looks. Worst thing you can do with a good shooter is give him confidence.

Our perimeter D has been trash all season. We're allowing opponents to shoot 37% from 3 on us. That's 301st in College Basketball.

And we're shooting a pathetic 27% from 3, which is 322nd.

I'd argue Izundu was the last post player we developed. But that was several years ago.
