Miami and financial support

Hiring Mario was a last ditch effort to spend money to make money. Cheap coaches weren’t doing anything or moving the needle. I was told when he was hired that if it didn’t work they basically plan on folding it up and moving on as a Georgia Tech or Wake Forest level program. Basically 8 more years to right the ship or forget about it.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the early returns on Cristobal are making them 2nd guess it. No info on that but would not be surprised if it’s on hold until further notice
Having this mindset and not doing a full coaching search (again) is the most stupidest **** ever man lol like they don’t deserve success if they’re gonna move like this

If true…….then the current football hiring folks need to be removed from ALL football operations. A simple and this time “real HC search“ would have most likely have us in a better position than we’re in now and let’s be honest, without Bama and Nike bags is Mario really an elite recruiter? Because QB, DT and CB leave a lot to be desired.

Blame Rudy Fernandez

He orchestrated it on Frenk's behalf.

Basically since the football team is performing terribly, we’re losing money, no difference from when a company that has investors perform bad. Stockholders back out, in this case fans are not spending money on products

Oh, lord, here we go again with "we didn't do a full coaching search"...

OK, so WHO should we have hired, if not Mario?

I am attaching a ranking of the 30 new hires for 2021 that was done at the end of 2022. I'll also rank by winning percentage and recruiting class rankings. There are only 5 coaches who have outperformed Mario in both metrics tus far, Brian Kelly (LSU), Lincoln Riley (USC), Marcus Freeman (Notre Dame), Dan Lanning (Oregon), and Brent Venables (Oklahoma).

I'll wait to see who anyone THINKS we would have landed if we didn't chase Mario first.

This simply isn’t true. Also, if we are in debt over it, then you would know. They would have taken out a tax exempt bond issuance to fund it. But that also doesn’t mean they are in debt. In fact, if they paused it because of a lack of funding, then that literally means they cannot be in debt over the facility.

I don’t know man. I think it’s just hard to get coaching searches right no matter how you approach them. A&M and USC thought they hit home runs, and they aren’t in much better shape than we are. UF thinks of themselves as the flagship school in Florida and is in the SEC, and they have botched multiple hires after Urban.

Because those teams never asked for advices of message board members. They always know who the right hire is (in hindsight).

The problem isn’t hiring mario, he’s a deserving candidate. The problem is u did the exact same thing that made your program fall off a cliff lol

Regardless of all that, It's becoming apparent it wasn't the best hire. His decision making in regards to staff and play-calling is in no way worth 8 million a yr....and although his recruiting has been good, it hasn't been in regards to several key positions.

This has been a crux of every HC here dating back to at least Shannon. Over the last 5 HCs (and maybe Coker, but I didn't pay enough attention then), even when Miami has recruited well, there have always been a position or two where they have struggled disproportionally to the other positions.

DTs and CBs have been a recurring problem across many of the coaching regimes (CB in particular is infuriating given S Florida) and Mario has decided to continue that tradition but also has thrown QBs into the mix and is apparently trying to make up for lost time by handling that position so spectacularly poorly (hopefully he can correct that in the portal this year).

WRs and LBs have also taken turns as positions where Miami has struggled when doing well at all or most of the other positions.
