We went through this 12 years ago when we were returning SR Leonard Myers who as much as he got burned was still a better cb than Magee will ever be.We had a true fresman cb(Phillip Buchanon) nowhere near as heralded as howard and by the 3rd or 4th game of the season he was our starter and Myers actually had a solid SR season as the 3rd cb alongside Buchanon and Rumph.Sometimes talented truefreshmen can come in and ouplay mediocre upperclassmen although this may be a shock to cityboy.

Great post

Yup

Except Buchanon was a sophomore. He turned pro after his junior year 2001. This is not to dispute your point in general (a freshman can start) but I would not expect Howard to be anywhere near mid-sophomore year Buchanon.

Not sure why Tracy Howard couldn't be our best corner, right now. Josh Robinson started for UCF as a freshman and had 6 picks. Jenoris Jenkins started for the Gators as a Fr. and was their best CB. We haven't seen what the coaches have seen since the summer till now. There's a reason why TH is running with the ones, he's most likely just outplaying his competition.

We haven't been good for so long there are large percentage of fans that will just have to see it to believe it (in a game). I'm not one, but I can empathize with those who approach it that way.

And Myers was not a scrub come his senior year. ****, he was in the league for a couple of minutes.

Sure, I can understand their rationale. I just don't understand what people see in BM that makes it so hard to believe that he's getting beaten out by a guy who was ranked #1 in his position, coming out of HS. Last year, he still struggled with basic fundamentals (allowing free inside releases, not reading the #2 in a cover 3). I hope he has a great season, but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts the first game rotating as our #2/#3 CB.
