McGee in D'ono's doghouse

Cityboi has to be trollin. Or is he taking up his Shammin slurping ways again? lol.

McGee is symptomatic of the garbage sewage culture that Shammin left Golden. Underperforming, overrated combine and workout warrior ("fastest man on the team"), but when it comes to games and making plays, turns into a complete puss*cat.

What did I say about Mcgee was wrong?

Here you go:

"Mcgee has all the tools to be that player and the coaches are pushing him hard to be an "Elite Corner". If he never becomes and "Elite Corner", which are few and far between, it does not mean he is terrible or sucks. Mcgee would still be a really good college DB."

No. Coaches arent pushing him hard to be an "elite" corner. They are pushing him hard to be a "good" corner because right now, he aint CLOSE to good. He is barely serviceable.

And no, if he does not improve, he would NOT still be a really good college DB. He would be an overrated, underperforming Shammin has been, no different than the battalions of SHammin recruits that never lived up to their hype.

That. McGee is nowhere close to good, and is in a universe so far far away from elite its not even worth discussing. There is exactly one area in which he brings anything to the table, his speed. He has zero football IQ, zero instincts, zero cover skills, negligible ball skills, and doesn't tackle.

Fitzgerald was light years better than McGee. Leonard Meyers Jr. is Patrick Peterson compared to McGee.

^^^^^ And in saying all of that I still would put a sr bmcgee out there before I put t.howard. I know some of you are so blinded with hate I get that. But you don't start a true rookie with a shaky secondary behind him anyway on the road on Labor Day. I hope I don't see that from our coaching staff. i could see t.howard starting our third game vs bcc that would be a great game for him to get his feet wet.

SMH.webp

McGee is horrible. Can't believe he can't lockdown a starting CB spot as a 5th year senior working against a plethora of underclassmen. Horrible.

Dude missed one practice and he got demoted..thats what happened...their trying to light a fire under him

Serious question, is McGee as good a player and as reliable as Markese Fitzgerald?( who was a very solid nickel back and role player for UM)

Says a lot about where the talent level has gone the past decade, doesn't it?

Fitz would start for this team in a landslide.

As a senior he absolutely would, and so would Delvin Brown, believe it or not. And I don't mean this as an indictment on Fitz- who would be the type of valuable guy that Golden would call a 'coal shoveler'- on a really elite UM squad, he's your nickel or dime back.

McGee for all this physical talents is a JAG( just another guy)

lol he's a fourth year player.. He never redshirted. We have the slowest fan base. Before you criticize at least know his classification

You are right. Howard is a true FR who will likely get beat repeatedly, or make mistakes, some costly. No doubt we will suffer growing pains.

All i am saying is that cityboi calling McGee a "really good college DB" is absolute hogwash. lol.

To me, it's funny. The Shammin lovers always find ways to defend the Shammin leftovers, and always find ways to downplay Golden's kids. Subtle, but still noticeable. They are also the first ones to scapegoat "coaching" as the reason why our defense, particularly pass defense, sucked so bad at times last year, instead of looking at the roster of **** that Golden had to work with.

OTOH, the people that are glad to get rid of Shammin cant wait to watch Golden's kids play, even if costs us in the short term dealing with FR mistakes.

For me, i would much rather have Howard succeed beyond all expectations rather than McGee. Simply because McGee is gone after this year and Howard is here for at least 3.

McGee would be in my doghouse as well.

The way to tell the winners from losers is to identify the quitters. Siht doesn't go their way, they have a bad day, they lose their shirt, then they in essence quit? They get ****ed, they have themselves a pity-party, or they sulk? That's a quitter, and when the game is on the line, when everyone is going to have to reach all the way down to the bottom and pull out your last reserve, strain your last untorn muscle, give it your last twitch - you don't necessarily want the most talented on the field - you want the fighters on the field.

So from that aspect alone, I'd say McGee is NOT out best CB. He's not going to dig out diddly squat when the going gets rough, as he is clearly exhibiting.

We went through this 12 years ago when we were returning SR Leonard Myers who as much as he got burned was still a better cb than Magee will ever be.We had a true fresman cb(Phillip Buchanon) nowhere near as heralded as howard and by the 3rd or 4th game of the season he was our starter and Myers actually had a solid SR season as the 3rd cb alongside Buchanon and Rumph.Sometimes talented truefreshmen can come in and ouplay mediocre upperclassmen although this may be a shock to cityboy.

We won't know until the play in some games but some TR FR are ready mentally and physically to start from the get go. They are rare but I guess we will see what happens.

I thought McGee would turn the corner this year (back in the spring), although if he isn't putting in the effort then I doubt that will happen. If would be huge for McGee to step up and hope he does but maybe we just roll with Gunter, Finnie, and the Freshman.

If you have hope for McGee than that's just plain dumb. He is who we thought he was.

His attitude is **** poor, this the second year that he's lost his black jersey and each time he says "I'm not worried about it" Shammin' recruit going Shammin'.

Sounds motivational in that it implies that McGee has really good talent. I've never seen much from him that suggest that he is a very talented DB. Okay I understand that he can run and has a reasonable build but that is meaningless. This has all the makings of the coaches trying to talk a mediocre player into being something more--not unlike Coker used to do with Leggett and Geathers. They certainly would know what they have in mcgee but they do need him to be a decent player

All of it!

I don't think he's in a doghouse as much as he just isn't that great at football.

Looks like he made up the virus thing too...Coach D or AL did not say he was sick, and I would assume if he WAS ill you would not lose your position or black jersey....this alarms me about Brandon saying something like that to reporters and minutes later a coach says I am not going to strike up the band for Brandon every day...

Al believed enough in Brandon to allow him to represent the team at the ACC meetings in July......he EARNED a black Jersey...something is there in this kid, he just needs to go get that jersey back and prove he is a leader and have the best year of his life..and hopefully be able to take care of his family with a decent NFL career.....
