No doubt CB Brandon McGee is in coach D'Onofrio's doghouse. "I need Brandon's effort everyday to match his talent... I can't have a pep rally everyday and strike up the band. I can't try to light a fire everyday- he has to."

These freshman taking his job should light a fire. I am guessing he just doesnt have that drive.
 
The issue with a lot of these kids from the previous regime is the entitlement. They developed the mentality that once I get to tha U the league is automatic
and all they have to do is run a good 40 time and get drafted. Not concerned about greatness, just making it to the league.
 
How good could McGhee truly be after the season we witnessed from him last year? One offseason wasn't going to turn him into a lock down CB.
 
If he don't want it, the next guy does.

He better step up or get left behind.

McGee is a ******* senior, WTF is he thinking (or not thinking)?? Hard to believe this **** still goes on.
 
I think our best press corner, or island corner is Finnie. He has more speed and has a year under his belt. TH is our best prospect, but he cant be our best cb until he plays a game under the lights.

So he's our best DB by default in your opinions because he's the only who's played in a game? That's not saying much about McGee.

Pretty f'ing sad when a senior has to have motivation tactics used on him. It's not like he was all american, wait all acc, or wait heck even a lock down DB for us. Seriously the shannon leftovers really lack maturity.

McGee is our worst corner. He was our worst corner last year. Lee chambers was better.

As slow as he is, VT is a better DB than McGee. Unless you don't consider safety to be a DB position.

He is our best DB. People can hope and wish Tracy Howard or insert any other freshman name if they like, but it will not change the fact that by far and it is not even close that Mcgee is our best DB. The coaches are just pushing him to be the lock down corner UM desperately needs. There are very few "Elite Corners" in which a DC can dial up an aggressive coverage/blitz package where they can leave their Field side corner in man to man with no help. Having the luxury of players like Patrick Peterson, Phillip Buchanan or Tyrann D. Mathieu (Honey Badger) who can hold it down allows for the DC to call aggressive plays periodically to stop game changing drives. Last year Mcgee was 0-7 on the plays when Coach D dialed his number.

Mcgee has all the tools to be that player and the coaches are pushing him hard to be an "Elite Corner". If he never becomes and "Elite Corner", which are few and far between, it does not mean he is terrible or sucks. Mcgee would still be a really good college DB.

Pcity I disagree 1000% with you!! Chambers was atrocious and I watched three games he played in. he was more lost than sam shields ...


McGee had a average year period. I know you cannot let your biased opinion self see that, but statistically go to cfbstats.com He did.

Now I tend to agree with cityboy. I'm not sending a freshman with a black jersey to BC to start on Labor Day...LOL are you kidding me.
