Max Johnson On Campus

I understand he’s a great looking guy in shorts with a bloodline but he’s a hair above 50 % completion with 10 TD’s and 10 Int’s as a passer and he’s 5-6 as a starter. Jarren was tearing it up as a sophomore against better comp and he still didn’t get his hype...just as a point of reference. I want to see Max take a jump up before I start drooling about how well he does in shorts.

To me 7v7 isn't a determining factor if a QB is good or not. Like some one said earlier, anyone can throw a ball in shorts... But shiiiihh come on and play for Florida Fire or SFE they'll get him right lol

Generally, junior year is the key year for HS QBs. Sure, there are prodigies that kill it starting their freshmen year, but you normally see a progression, and if they have it, they’ll show it by their junior year. Very very rarely by their senior year.

So like I said previously, you want to see progression in mechanics, release (accuracy, of course) and overall quarterbacking metrics by the end of this fall. The potential is there.

Right now, there are are some fairly obvious question marks.

Your point? Because you just proved my point...

Why so defensive?

Don’t see much difference b/w the sophomore stats for each prospect. Leaves me not knowing what to think about Max Johnson besides that he’s got potential.

I’m just informing the discussion

1) 3x the competition

2) 40 yards per game with his feet and I believe another 3 TD’s to go with his 14 passing TD’s. Max Johnson’s stats up to now makes it seem that he can’t do anything with his feet.

We're talking about a rising junior, right?

You bring him in, coach him up and let him COMPETE! There's a bloodline and as long as he has the requisite work ethic i'd think he can be as good if not better than Malik. Also, by the time he's ready to play the oline should be set to help anyone with a pulse succeed.

I think he's the reason we've handled the 2019 recruiting the way we have.

The main thing for me is that he's a lefty.

I know, sounds stupid right... But, there's really only been a handful of great left handed QB's. And before you throw Steve Young, Boomer Esiason, Mark Brunell & Vick at me, realize you're proving my point. Literally only a handful of them over a 20+ year time span. Great Left handed QB's are rare.

Now for the fundamentalists defenders, keep calm & read clearly. No one is criticizing Richt or the staff, no one is saying the kid sucks, no one is saying that we know better than Richt. People have questions & are not anti-Miami or complaining for simply raising those questions.

The kid still has 2 years to continue to develop & become much better than he already is. He comes from NFL stock & obviously will have a head start on understanding Offenses. All the tools are there & it'll be interesting to see how he progresses by the end of his Senior year.

not just offenses but Richt's in particular. Hopefully the kid can come in prepared from a footwork standpoint, because That's where it starts for the QBs in Richt's offense. This is a kid we should absolutely want to have here at Miami. He's quite the specimen with 2 years left to mature.

Does he win games? He looks like the next kid throwing the ball. I want to know can he go out and win a game. I don't want another Sitkawaski. I want a Elite QB who is a winner in the 2020 class(**** I'm old)

Winning games is not a trait. Jarren Williams went 5-5 last year on a poorly coached team with a bad OL. He's a stud with outstanding traits. Do better than this.
