Matocha Commits

Here's what important about this commit:

Enos has had a love affair w this kid since he was at Arkansas. This is the guy he sees running his offense in a few seasons and the guy he prioritized.

One of the most important commits so far.
This also shows Enos has a solid 3 year Miami commitment in mind where he wants to blow things out of the water here and then land another HC opportunity. He's thinking a few years out, not just for one year like Briles or Fedora.

If you are going to get an under-the-radar QB, get him from Texas.

Baker, Mahomes, Brees and Foles were three-stars. This kid probably isn’t that but we are looking in the right place.
Ratings 24 years ago? wow!

Personally feel this kid was better than Legendre for 2 specific reasons...the out routes, you cant teach how Peyton throws them and Legendre has a slow delivery. This kid reminds me of Jake Plummer. Some of you may not know who that was, but dude can ball.
Growing up in the 90's I remember that guy, used to watch the Broncos a bit back then.

Disagree there. Easily? It would have been an awful decision. That’s not what is meant by easily. Glad the staff saw the NEED for new guys in the QB room.

Both of you are Correct. Carson Proctor is basically the insurance if Tate Martell doesn't get the waiver. Just dont recruit guys and be stuck with players like Milo and Honestly Cade Weldon is the biggest longshot in the QB room but even he is better at the moment than most QB recruits still on the market

Crazy how different the qb rooms look now. Richt was content heading into next season with Perry, Williams and weldon.

In walks Enos and we get Martell, bring in a juco and the get a commitment from Matocha. All to go along with the other 3.

Competition breeds success.
Honestly, Richt was a guy who viewed the role of coach as some form of commitment to the guys he recruited rather than the team as a whole or the institution. He was going to get what he could out of Perry, Weldon and Williams. But he quite obviously did not go all out, or even half out, to scour around and find guys to add to the equation. He tried for the kid on the west coast, then packed it in.

I think there was a philosophy and integrity of sorts to Richt’s view, but it was not how you build or coach a top level team. Maybe when you get lucky with a few guys, but where was the urgency? Roster not full? Oh well. Next year.

Manny and Enos bring an entirely different mentality. Their commitment is to winning, and that means getting guys who can shake it up and add competition, and if people are uncomfortable with that, oh well. It’s a commitment to the program ahead of any specific kids.

Richt would hve been better and imo happier at a DII school. Coach the guys you got but don’t have to stress about the guys you don’t got.
