Matocha Commits

Tuas lil bro is committed at Bama. Why would he be prioritized there?

We could've easily passed on a Qb this cycle whether Tate gets the waiver or not.

Manny and co. don't strike me as the types to take a guy just to take him.
Disagree there. Easily? It would have been an awful decision. That’s not what is meant by easily. Glad the staff saw the NEED for new guys in the QB room.

I can believe that Enos would have preferred Legendre also. For that reason, I LOVE this commit! The past four corches we had would have waited on the guy they preferred, only to lose out and then this kid would be committed elsewhere and we’d get nothing.

For years, I have said we should take commitments from kids if we think they can play at Miami, and not otherwise. If the other guy wants in also, sort it out when / if you can. Enos clearly thinks this guy can play at UM and didn't botch things hoping for someone else. That alone tells me we are in a new era, recruiting-wise.
Completely agree. Especially in this scenario, we at the moment have nkosi, jarren and tate...he ain't starting for atleast 2 or 3 years bare minimum

no more being left at the alter with our diks in our hands for one recruit

Here's a bit of an interview he did after Enos was there last week:

“The last 72 hours have been pretty intense,” Matocha said. “Honestly, I’m a competitor. As soon as I get to campus, obviously, I’m going to fight for the job. But I’m choosing a college most importantly because I want to get the best degree I can possible. Miami is a very prestigious university. That’s the most important thing to me. Obviously, football, coach Enos has a great track record of developing QBs. I’m about 6-3 ½, 190 pounds. Once I get to the 6-4, 220 range, I’m going to need the right guy to help me reach how far I can go, and I know Coach Enos is that guy.

“I know I have to develop a little bit. But as soon as I get there I’m going to fight for the job. And I’m either going to have it or I’m going to make the guy who does have it a lot better. That’s kind of the mindset I have.”

At St. Thomas, where he was a four-year starter, Matocha said he played in a variety of offenses.
“I had four different offensive coordinators my four years of high school,” he said. “I went from a heavy pro-style running offense my freshman year to a full-scale Air Raid offense that barely ran the ball. Then, we moved to more of a West Coast theme. I’ve pretty much had to learn it all. I’ve done everything.

“The one thing I’d say I love about Enos’ offense is how diverse it is. When he was at Alabama and had all those receivers around him, he did do a lot of RPOs (run-pass-options) and had a balanced run game. His system just kind of adjusts to whatever quarterback he has and what his strengths are. That’s what’s obviously most important.”

This is why Enos likes him. The kid can do ALOT.

Here's what important about this commit:

Enos has had a love affair w this kid since he was at Arkansas. This is the guy he sees running his offense in a few seasons and the guy he prioritized.

One of the most important commits so far.
Very similar to frost with Milton while he was at Oregon ... had a love affair but didn’t warrant enough to get a serious offer to Oregon (again not comparing Matocha to Milton just stating it’s similiar situation

If Enos can develop as well as his rep proceeds him then this kind of kid can pay huge dividends in a couple years once Tate, J Will, or even both have played.

I thought this was his first year as Starting QB? What other position was he starting at?

you never know how good this kid can be, i remember a kid named brett favre, he had one d1 offer and that was to southern miss, as a DB. that was only because a guy they were expecting signed elsewhere last minute. not saying the kid will be this at all. just saying you never know.

He committed to Miami so he is the next Tom Brady only he can run so he’s a combination of Brady and Steve Young.

Kid played in a pathetic league so pay no attention to the stats. I don’t see him ever taking a meaningful snap for the Canes.

Neg away, I’m no sunshine pumper, just call it like I see it.

Once again..reading comprehension fellas..was only speaking on his recruitment..**** lol
Your memory is a little hazy then.

Kaaya stuck with Miami because Coley offered him first. He stayed loyal when all the local programmes were making a run at him - UCLA wanted him badly.

Besides both playing QB there's nothing similar about the recruitment or athletic profile of Matocha and Kaaya.
