Mario on Joe Rose (Wake week)

Honestly should have done it against GT. We got beat by a QB with no arms that might as well have yelled out we’re running to the right edge prior to the snap. UGA went with a 5-2 against UiF when Lagway went out.
Not necessarily the same, but we had several bear fronts out of a 4-3. Kiko was liability. I'd assume the same outcome in a 5-2 lol.

I’m just looking at it to seal the edges. Unless of course Guidry would go with another “exotic” look and line all the DL up outside of the OTs like he did against Louisville on a 3rd and 2.

Word! GT held the WRs all game. On the 4th and long we went for, X was held in the middle of the flag with no call

Mario needed to work the refs early in the game as if his and his staff's jobs depended on it.... especially after that horrific PI no call.
I would have called a TO and reamed the refs... well worth spending a TO on that.
i am being serious. Mario should stop this being respectful nonsense...

The improvements that Mario’s made this year somewhat cancel out due to the continued struggles on Defense… Unfortunately furthering the narrative of his game day capacity to get his teams ready game in game out throughout the year…It shouldn’t have required a FUXKING lost to GA Tech for him to get into Guidry’s *** to fix the defense.
If you think Mario has not been in his ear since the CAL game, then you are mistaken. Watch Guidry on the sidelines. He is not having fun and he is under pressure to get this fixed. But there is only so much Mario can do. Mario is not a defensive coach. He must rely on Guidry to install the correct game plan and execute it. The problem with Guidry is he seemingly is two steps behind to start a game. Each opposing OC has a game plan to throw him off and it takes him two quarters to figure out what they are doing different. To me that is what gets him fired. He gets hood winked game in game out to start the game.

They keep him because Mario doesn’t agree with yall lol Mario has shown he won’t be stubborn here so when Guidry is still here next season he’s telling ya’ll what he thinks. Point blank. From that point on ya’ll can blame it on what ya’ll want
Hey I don't really understand what you're saying. I'm not debating, just trying to understand what you mean by this. Obviously, I don't think CMC fires Guidry either.

They often did play with a 5 man front with a LB spread out, when they went wide.
That front was part of the reason we just slices and diced.

If we blow our chance at the ACC championship and playoff because we can't stop Wake or Syracuse, I don't think there's any chance Guidry is back.
This. Would be a hard stance to fire him if we win the ACC title and make the CFP. Not sure Mario wants to go that far just yet. Will be very interesting though either way

It’s not one or the other.

For me it is a combination of both.

After the Damari Brown injury, they should’ve moved Richard to Nickel. After he gets injured, bring Harris down and bring in Keith Williams. He can patrol the deep middle and keeps him out of the traffic and making tackles.

Move Porter outside to boundary corner to limit his lack of athleticism. He was pretty good there last year.

Bench Powell and play Patterson more. Limit his reads and have him playing closer to the LOS.

Bring Baron off the bench and give the majority of the snaps to Mesidor. He’s a much better defender than Baron.

Give Scott, Moten, and Campbell more snaps paired with Barrow. That allows him to be more disruptive if you insist on playing a 4 man front.

Get Mauigoa off the field in obvious passing downs. Pruitt looks ready to me.

Play more zone, like Cover 3 match. Cover 2 is *** here since the deep safeties don’t have eye discipline.

Mix in the 3-3-5 more. It worked last year when we needed it. Guess what, we need it.
You expect our backend to communicate a match concept flawlessly lol come on

I dont think its blame per se, and we KNOW Mario doesnt like to handle anything with media so him stating what he said, that speaks volumes. I think he would tell you it starts at the top and he made it known to Guidry that something needs to be done or communicated better.

We are on outside and dont know the calls so tough to say, but I see people want to blame Baron when even when someone like Bissainthe was on edge and should be force player he didnt set the edge either. Players looking confused like a fire drill is something that shouldnt be happening passed spring of year 1. We are in year 2 week 10 looking clueless with teams still using same plays that should be contained.
If Guidry were a stock I'd lay out a pretty big short position on him. He's a goner after the season, unless there is some remarkable turnaround which doesn't appear to be in the cards.

You just can't be this laughably bad and keep the DC

You gotta think the ACC brass is not happy at all with Mario for that GTech loss either. Because if we had gone undefeated in the regular season and lost in the ACC title game..we still would have got a spot in the CFP at 11-1..And the ACC would have 2 teams in the CFP..but now the ACC is almost certainly only getting 1 team..(unless something absolutely crazy happens). While the SEC and Big 10 are making cases to have 4 teams each. Doesnt make the conference look good at all.
The ACC doesn't give a crap about us unless something happens to intersect with their interests, as you pointed out here.

I couldn't care less what they think. It's the tobacco road conference and always will be.

Agreed

I thought we lost a lot of talent but thought those guys back there would be reliable enough to let our offense do its thing

Stunning how wrong I was
Offense exceeed expectations by a fair amount.

Defense just embarrassing.

9-1 against a really weak schedule. Weird that the gator win may end up being our most impressive.

He's not capable of that, dude is a bad coach. Couple that glaring talent issues (#0, 1, 2, 7, 19, 25) and you have a receipt for disaster.
I agree. Last year we had quite good college level db talent, which covers a lot of sins. This year much weaker talent and Guidry exposed.

I don’t know any ball, unfortunately.

And I wouldn’t be able to give you an answer on which DB’s they feels comfortable playing.

I know id start the following guys at this point:

Free - Wiliams
Strong - Patterson
Nickle - Harris
Field - OJF
Boundary - Porter
It would be hard for anyone to argue that would be worse. Might not be better, but how much of what we've been doing do you need to see. Movie going to play out the same way.
