Mario is on Joe Rose Show Tomorrow 7 am

Update on the OC from David Lake:

“ Here are some quick VIP notes I wanted to pass along…

- Mario Cristobal’s search for an offensive coordinator is ongoing and I wanted to pass along a name that continues to get floated by me from many sources: Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles. I’m told that Briles has interest in UM because of the talent that exists on the roster and he is confident he can orchestrate a productive attack with that talent. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke will enter 2022 as one of the best quarterbacks in the country, but Briles also has pretty strong relationships with the projected back-ups, Jake Garcia and Jacurri Brown (which could help keep the quarterback room intact in this transfer portal era). This time last year, Garcia nearly picked Arkansas over Miami in the recruiting process and it was Briles that led that charge for the Razorbacks. Briles also made a late run at Brown recently at the end of this 2022 recruiting cycle. Briles is also aware that former offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee got his first head coaching opportunity at SMU after a successful stint at Miami. I’m told that Cristobal likes the balanced attack that Briles’ offense produces between the pass and the run. On paper, it is a fit that makes a lot of sense on both sides. Briles has coordinated productive offenses wherever he has coached.

- ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that former Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady is receiving plenty of interest from NFL teams and that his preference is to stay at that level. I can pass along that I have independently been told that Brady prefers to stay in the NFL. He did speak with Mario Cristobal as a courtesy.”

Yes please

Great. Hate to quote Saban but I think Mario learned from him to have that mindset that Miami won't be for everyone. If you don't plan on working extremely hard in all facets then this ain't the place for you!
Along with that hopefully the discipline Mario talked about wanting to establish in his press conference will mean no more stupid penalties on game day. And coaches making smart decisions with time outs etc. Mario says there are only big things meaning little things are big things.

Some of that info on Brady is not consistent with what other insiders have shared. I thought his contact with Miami was way more than just a "courtesy".

I don't understand why HC Super Mario just doesn't conduct his staff meetings on CIS. We have input for EVERY program decision.

I'm feeling a rocky start here, hopefully he can get it right.

😂
FLY. THE. ****. PLANE.

I wasnt big on the Briles talk unless he was our 3rd or 4th option and looks like that is where we stand at this time. So be it. Especially if it helps us keep Garcia onboard too. And Briles would be an idiot to not accept this job if offered. So theres that too.

Before the "What dont you like about Briles?! His offense always produces!!" folks come jump down my throat again.. While I think his offense could win the ACC (especially in down years)..I have a hard time with the fact that it could not get us the big prize when we run into legit defensive minds. Hes the "Mike D'Antoni" of college football. Looks great in the regular season until you hit the playoffs and run into the real defensive minds then its one big flop after another. Say what you want about his FSU tenure and yes I know that was 2 years ago..but Manny Diaz completely shut that offense down. And Manny's defense is thought of as a gimmicky clown show on this board so what does that make Briles scheme? Just sayin.

That said, Plan A (Brady) and Plan B (Dorsey or Mullen) seem to be pretty much dead so bring me Briles and lets hope for the best!

Unfortunately his Oregon teams didn't exhibit those traits.

You do realize the QB he had at FSU is a huge step down from what he'd have here. Briles isn't my first choice...but with a solid O-line...and an aggressive defense...it would be all good.

Also, how did his team do against Bama this year?

Who said Dorsey and/or Mullen are Mario’s Plan B’s???

I always got the feeling that Brady was A and then Briles was the name I heard in the next group.

Manny's defense shut them down because they couldn't block a soul up front that day. I haven't looked into Briles all that much yet but his FSU stint will factor very little for me at least. Knowing their QB/OL situation was one of the worst in college football compared to what we will have will be night/day. I know he's a big name but I'm excited to go watch some Arkansas and Houston games.
